What Is Your Best Frankenpen?

I guess that a lot of us did that at some point. We have a particular pen on which we like the nib but not the body, and another one where we find the body nice but the nib is not meeting our expectations. If one fits on the other, the calculation is easy to make it, the evil Frankenpen!

Please tell me, what is your favorite Frankenpen?

Mine is this one, a cheap Pentel Tradio with a Graf von Faber Castell Intuition nib. It follows me everywhere :)

I have quite a few Frankenpens.

There's more than one contender for "the best" but this pre-war Osmia 226 with large English Jewel nib is very successful:

Here's a PItman's College pen with a simple modification of a Swan feed to make it work properly!

Delta Titanio Galassia Orange.

Had 2 nibexchanges fom Delta, i hated all 3 and sold the pen.

Later obtained one with bended nib for a ridiculous small price

via ebay, and fitted it with several no6 nibs. It ended with a

nice moderate adorned steelnib which does not disturb the theme,

and is regulary in rotation as i like the design a lot (save the original nibs

Performance of course).

Then I have this pretty Pitman's College pen from the 1920s with a Swan No 1 Calligraph nib:

Late 1920's oversize Eclipse in black plastic. The body and cap are immaculate but it came in a "lot" from the bay without a nib or a feed. I spent a couple of years looking for replacements but never found them. I finally installed a feed from an Ahab and a Goulet 1.1 CI nib and the thing is a sheer delight to use. Perfect balance, perfect flow, and it looks and feels great in my hand.

Nice! Do you know if a #5 Waterman nib would fit on another Pelikan model?

I'm sorry, I can't say anything. I don't have a # 5 nib and I don't know its measures.

This one. Of course, it's the only Frankenpen I have. Dubbed the Mysterioso Pen (brownie points for anyone who gets the reference), it's an unknown shell, fitted with an Esterbrook section, and then further adapted with a Jowo #5 nib (off a Newton Pen) in the feed and collar. It's one of my favorite pens, writes wonderfully smooth, and is nicely balanced.

I don't usually purposely Do Frankenpens.

But I did this one.

(Sorry for the lousy pic.)

I really like the Vac 51 Sterling cap. I don't really care for Vac 51's.

So I found a Midnight Blue Aero with a Vac Sterling cap on the bay for less than the cap alone was worth.

Well the only thing I have that might be considered a Frankenpen (though I don't think of it that way) is a Noodler's Konrad in Red Mesa Tortoise with a Goulet B nib rather than the stock flex nib. Wasn't getting much use with the flex nib, got the B and the usage skyrocketed.
