Nakaya, Platinum, And Handmade Pen Kimono - Pic Heavy!

My wife made me 2 new pen kimono's for Christmas. They turned out great and I absolutely love them; I'll definitely be using these every day. They're basically designed off of the Nakaya pen kimono, but with some different colours, and stuff. I particularly like the one with the teal silk on the inside; It looks super classy IMHO.

My wife said she'll be making a couple more, as she felt that there were a few tiny things that could have come out better if she'd had more time. She's also planning on making me a 3 pen wrap which I'm really excited about!

Now for the photos- I'd been meaning to take some decent photos of my pens for awhile now, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

Please bear in mind that this was my first attempt at trying to take some better quality photos. Although they might not be amazing I'm still kinda proud of how they turned out.

To answer a couple of questions-

 

I'm not sure where the fabric came from honestly. My wife is a miliner by trade and has lots of fabric and craft supplies(it's always arts and crafts time at our house), she really enjoys Japanese/Oriental art & fabrics.

 

My wife says she's really pleased with the comments about the pen kimonos and is considering making some for sale here if people are interested in buying them. I might post a thread in the market place or something, with some different fabric swatches to give people options.

 

Yes the Nakaya pen is a picollo in kuro-tamenuri with a fine point ruthenium plated nib.

I realize that this is an older thread but I thought I'd also mention that I too would be very interested in buying a kimono like the ones you pictured. Your wife certainly is talented. Those pen sleeves are just gorgeous!
