My Pilot Capless Are Leaking

Thier.

Recommended Posts

Today, a client gave me a Pilot Capless he doesn't want anymore (after less than one month !!!!! ) because he doesn't like the fine nib !! ???

When I opened it to see how the cartridge was empty (but it is not at all) I saw that ink leaked in it ... Exactly as do my Grey one that I use with the converter provided with the pen. I thought it was because of the ink I use but it's the same problem with the Pilot cartridges ... So my 2 Pilot are leaking the same way ...

I've cleaned it, but after having written a little bit, the problem is back ...fpn_1407093870___thi3376.jpg

Has anyone an idea ?

I've heard of this happening when the cartridge or converter isn't seated in deep enough, you have to push really hard on it.

Hi,

Is the pen stored nib down? Sometimes that happens because the pen is stored nib down. Another thing you can do is clean out the front part of the body to clean out all the ink deposits if you haven't already. I don't seem to have that problem, and I have three of these. Also, what ink are you using?

In my Pilot converter, I use Iroshizuku inks and the cartridge is the classical Pilot one .... The pen is usually nib up ...

I fixed that by using a converting and sucking in some air.

I'll try that tomorrow and let you know if that fixes the problem ......

That is a good idea. There are several different Pilot converters, so I don't know which is the "classic" one. The ones I had came with the Con-20 which is the press-bar one. There is also the Con-50 which is the piston one. In some countries, most Pilot Capless come with the Con-50. There is the Con-w for double-spare Pilots and the Con-70. Neither the Con-w or Con-70 fit, but that shouldn't bother you since you can't physically get either to fit in your pen.

I would recommend dripping out three drops back into the bottle, then pointing the pen nib up and retracting the piston or letting go of the bar on the converter. That should clear the feed. Sometimes if there is excess ink in the feed, that's what does this.

Here is an instruction leaflet from Lamy that shows the dripping of the three drops.

Thank you for your help . I've tried to do that ( in fact, I always do) but no way. Using cartridges links me to the same problem ...... But nothing serious, I can use it and just have to clean it every 4 or 5 days .......
