Force's Waterman Carene - New Colour

Left FPN

Recommended Posts

I am not sure how you guys will react to this colour which I have called Wash Green. It's not solid but somewhat washy i.e. dark in places, light in others.

The pen was in very poor condition so you must excuse the condition of gold hardware.

Is this one that you took down to brass and repainted? What paint and process did you use?

Yes, I always take them right down to the brass. The paint was Humbrol, brush finish. I used undercoat Matt #1 Grey Primer and Gloss #208 Flourescent Signal Green then Gloss Varnish polished with silver polish. It's not really what I expected the finish to be but after 2 months it must stay as is. I have been working on this chalk and cheese pair today. The #7 has been resaced and a new old stock pressure bar fitted. I an now trying to smooth the nib.

Do you remove the clip to refinish?

Yes, clip and all internal parts are removed. I would like to remove the cap ring but most are well bonded in so I have to work around it.

I love that green color. The RHR pen is also stupendous. You always do such meticulous work!

Neat work again, Force. I would call it "greenfinch" It also reminds me of little baby's....

Not my colour though. I am partly red-green colour-weak and somehow greens and reds are not my favourite. Although I certainly can see this green.

You have inspired me to perhaps learn to re-paint pens like that one. Any suggestions on how to go about learning this craft? Your work is obviously top-notch.

A before and after pic would be great!
