Would appreciate any input in identifying this pen.

I cant be sure it's the pen in the title but that's what I've come across doing some limited research.

It states on the body ppco 9 375 small r then a head or shield.

Any comments would be appreciated

Seems likely. A picture of the nib would confirm.

It is a Parker 61 indeed with missing gold arrow.

The pictogram (head or shield) is specific for the city where the gold content was hallmarked (London, Birmingham, Sheffield, ...). Once you deduced the hallmark origin, the "r" will lead you to the exact date of hallmarking. This info can be found on the web.

Once the arrow has fallen out, it is difficult to either find it or a replacement, and also the arrow rarely goes back in flush as Parker used only a tiny amount of adhesive. I tend to think that these days the default position for a P61 is without arrow, and a premium is paid for one with an arrow.

Regards,

Richard.

I agree. Replacement arrows are ready available but it is difficult to mount them on the section like it was done in the factory.

An alternative is to buy a black Parker 61 with intact gold arrow and simply switch the barrel and cap.
