Mont Blanc Fountain Pen Original Or Fake?

Pitagora

Recommended Posts

hi,

i want to purchase my first mb fountain pen, and i attack you guys some photos to tell me from your knowledge if the pen is true, or fake. the seller is willing to sell me for 100 euros. also the seller is willing to come with me to the mb store in my country( Romania, an authorise seller, not an official mb store), to verify if the pen is original. He also gave me the serial i can post it, if helps.

but please tell me what to do, i don't know( i am a bit sure) that if i go to the 3d mb seller he does not have the competence to certify me is the pen is true. maybe you guys have more competence in this matter.

thanks

Pics showing the feeder will be the key (if notched, it is a real Montblanc 145).

Anyway, all in your pics seems to be OK: box and converter are authentic, and also nib.

Casually, this 145 has a extended cartridge holder. That´s is something we were speaking about in this post:

Please Dont Tell Me I Got A Lemon....

Hommage a Frederic Chopin,a special edition pen which would come with a special box and CD.

As the others say it looks OK, and if it is then 100 Euros is a good price. It seems to have the booklet with it and if that is stamped and with the same serial number then you should be OK. People who are authorised MB retailers are usually very good at spotting fakes. I've taken three pens to a local authorised retailer, one to be sent off to MB for a service and two for the correct refills, and on all three occasions they've gone over the whole pen with a magnifier.

that's why i am a bit worried, 100 euros sounds pretty cheap comparing on ebay where you find for 400-500$. this pen comes just like in the photos, no cd, or other documents.

i also found for sale a meistertuck le grand ballpoint with the warranty expired, the sellers wanted 300$, but after negotiated i was able to turn it for 160$, again a bit worried about the price. i will put some photos with he ballpoint soon.

ps. regarding chopin fountain pen, i also have the serial, i can't post it here, if this helps.

In the first picture it looks like it's got the documentation ... the little booklet. Inside the back cover is where you would normally find the retailers stamp and, occasionally but not always, the associated serial number.

You are asking for a comparison between fish and fowl .... I love Fountain Pens, but don't like BPs or RBs, and plan to sell all mine off as I don't even see any point in collecting them. But that is my opinion only ... others might want to see me hanging from a rafter for saying that. :)

It is a very personal thing ... I would go for the FP, and if genuine it is a bargain

I can't give any comparison between a Le Grand BP and a 145 (once known as the Hommage a Chopin FP.)

It's like comparing apples with oranges.

If I saw the pen in the pictures for sale for €100 I would buy it.

thank you sir for your answers. i think i will buy both, will it be a waste of money? i usually write a lot with ballpoints, because i write very much and in an very quick time, but i truly admire the beauty of a fountain pen, especially a mont blanc one.

ps. i also saw that the fountain pen seller has for sale a sh st dupont fountain pen for 250 euros, so i think he sells original items, but i don't know the prices for brand new st dupont.

anyway i contacted mont blanc romania and they agree to look at my pen next week.

but regarding the le grande ballpoint, i can't go with it at the mb romania, but the seller told me the pen si brand new, never used, and he got the warranty which expired, i never saw a mb warranty in my life, so i need again your help, is this true?

If you're in Bucharest you can go to the Montblanc boutique in Calea Victoriei, across from the Muzica store. They should be able to authenticate the pen.

The guarantee certificate looks OK to me. It seems it was bought from Romania. Maybe you could make out the name of the dealer on the stamp and talk to them, ask them if the stamp is genuine. But if the serial number matches that on the pen, then it's probably OK.

I would say if it might satisfy those conditions or those in this guide, then you should feel safe. Many authentic Mb pens don't come in their original boxes though

You seem determined to get a 'Yes' or 'No'

All you'll get from me is 'Seems OK'

But, would I buy that Fountain Pen at that price? Yes, I'd take the risk ..... :)
