Victor's Pen And Pencil Set - Information Welcome!

Dear FPNrs:

I acquired some time ago this set of pen and pencil made by the Victor's pen company of New York. Is a very nice overlay purse set: they are only 10 cm. long. The pen is fitted with a "Warranted" gold nib that writes fantastic, it's a bulb filler (in working order!) and the pencil has the lead in it. The box they come in is also very nice, covered in velvet and a very soft fabric.

I've trying to get some information about this maker, but all I found is that the Victor Pen Company was active in the 30's-40's... and that's all. Does anyone have any idea about this company or can give any hint about this set? I would be grateful!

Here are some pics:

You may find more by searching under the United States Fountain Pen Company. "Victor" was their main model name. Their pens of the 'teens and '20s tend to be better made than their later products. Their most distinctive design was a metal-covered telescoping pen, made in both eyedropper-filling and lever-filling versions, with a screw-off end intended to hold smelling salts.

Thank you very much, David! I will google that. So, Victor is the model name...

Thank you, Phil: is a very nice set. I purchased it for my wife, but she says is so nice that she does not dare to carry it, so the set is resting in its case until she changes her mind...

Calamus:

A fascinating set from a largely unnoticed maker.

If you click here and scroll down to post #8 you can see a telescoping

ED that, if not in appearance, at least in function emulates the Victor model

And Richard Binder, as might be expected, offers more about the pen

and the Victor brand on these reference pages...

(scroll down to Edison)

At the end of the Edison entry he includes a link to Victor for more

information about the brand.

If you unearth any more information about the brand please come

back to this thread; I will do the same. Would enjoy knowing more.

And, if I can help fund a purchase that your wife is more likely to use,

give me a PM. I'd be proud to have that set in my collection.
