JINHAO Deep Sea Bright Pearl Shell Fountain Pen 18KGP M NIB NJ243

Ok I have to admit it I am a Fountain pen junky! Ok now that that is over I had to share the experience of my newest pen.

At under $14.00 US Dollar with shipping included I took the chance of it being a cheap piece of junk. Beautiful flawless Black Laquer finish, Clean Bright White Pearl and Blue/Green Abalone inserts on the body. Silver nib and accents.

Imagine my delight when I filled the included ink capsule and started writing with it. The medium Nib is smooth and does not PUDDLE on startup writing.

The cap clicks on very smoothly unlike some other pens I have bought. It feels and writes better than a pen I paid $100.00 for!!!

The final justification came when I handed the pen to a customer to write a check out to me at my business, He finished signing the check and as he handed the pen back to me, he said " Wow what a beautiful pen, I'll bet THAT set you back a pretty penny".

That is it. I really cannot say much more, how can I beat that for accolades?

If you want a pen that feels, looks and writes MUCH more expensive than it is, this is for you.

I just ordered 2 more to go into storage. I would have paid 5 or 6X what I did but SHHHHH, don't tell!

They are on the Bay right now for you to "BUY IT NOW"

Beautiful, Beautiful pen! My new favorite.

Nice site, I just found you.. BTW I have nothing to do with the Jinhao Company..

Larry

Good start. Nice looking pen. Thanks for the review. Many of the Chinese manufacturers churn out pen models at a high rate, Jinhao being one of them, and it's hard to find out what they all look like, let alone have someone else comment on them. Thanks!

I have two of the Jinhao 1008 seashell pens and have signally failed to review either.

Photos of the pens:

As you can see, very similar, but not quite the same.

I stopped using my two because the plating started to look a little greyer after a day or two, indicating plating wear. As I didn't want these gorgeous pens to look tired, I stopped using them immediately.

I do hope that doesn't start to happen with yours, Larry.

Regards,

Richard.

Yes I looked at those one as well. I knew these would have inexpensive plating so I gave mine a double cote of Clear coat on the silver before I started using them!! I have done it before and it only takes a bit of time to do!

Mine has lasted months of daily use with no ill effect so far.

I have very Alkaline skin, Just like my Father.

I cant wear a metal watch band, and I need to wear Titanium eyeglass frames.

I started doing this years ago and it has served me well.

IF the clear coating should show signs of wear, a quick wipe with Fingernail polish remover and a re coat , you are good for another year!

Thanks for the nice welcome!

I forgot to mention in my Profile I am also an Amateur Astronomer, 6" Refractor on a Computerized Go-To mount and a Celestron C14" Schmidt Cassagrain CompuStar telescope. ... just to introduce myself. That explains the revolving Man In The Moon Avitar.....

Funny, My Ladies name is Tracy as well, please give her my best.

Very nice! I got inspired and just ordered on myself. Also threw in a Jinhao 601 on a $10 impulse.

Larry,

I have pretty acidic skin, and seem to be able to take cellulose based lacquers off just by touching them. I shall have to try ClearKote (which is probably the UK equivalent).

I do seem pretty hard on plating, I don't know why. I made some kit pens a while back, and let a colleague have one. The plating came off my pen in 3 weeks, and lasted 18 months on the other one. Both pens were bought from the same batch. This sort of thing seems pretty normal, don't know why.

Will give the boss your best regards - same to yours too.

Regards,

Richard

You will have to let us know after you get yours! I am interested in the QC of these pens from this Mfgr.

If I get a watch with a stainless body it will start to bubble and turn grey after a couple of weeks.. Then My wrist will

break out and itch first, If I don't get it off me it will actually burn my skin!

major PITA. That is where I first started coating metals with clear fingernail polish. It didn't stop it but it sure slowed it down!

Only Titanium and at least 18K Gold don't do it to me.
