Ermenegildo Zegna Fountain Pen

I am a huge fan of Ermenegildo Zegna clothing and accessories, so I follow them on Instagram. They posted this today, and I was hoping someone here had some further information about the pen. After doing some research, I found their post on Facebook, where they say it's a collaboration with Omas.

yup. that clip certainly screams OMAS. this pen looks real nice. very simple and elegant.

The fountain pen looks like a re-work of the Omas Ogiva model, with slightly squared off ends.

This trend of the "fashion" or "luxury" brand started with Montblanc. Starting as a pen company, they now sell belts, cufflinks, clothing, etc. Their pens may be excellent -- certainly there is more than adequate debate on their performance in the posts throughout this website -- however, the focus of the company is clearly on products other than their pens. Visconti at one time had ties and some other companies are trying to extend their brand outside of pens or into pens.

 

Zegna is clearly one of the cachet brands in the world of high end clothing. It is dubious however, that experience provided a basis to innovate in pens. But at least they had the good sense to contract out to a Pen company (Omas) that knows what its doing.
