Ballpoint refills

The only refills I put in Parkers are Fisher Space Pen brand. They last forever, really do write on surfaces that regular refills fail on, and 20-- degree cold or 100++ degree heat inside a car don't faze them.

They are also one of the most permanent of ballpoint inks.

Schmidt just two weeks ago released a new ballpoint refill which took them ages to develop. Originally they planned to have it out by July 2007. They say it is a totally new generation of writing instrument, somewhere inbetween a rollerball and a ballpoint. This refill is called SCHMIDT easyFLOW 9000.

More infos at http://www.schmidttechnology.de/en/schreib...yflow/c_1_9.htm

If I'd use a ballpoint, I'd give this new technology a try.

I think I'll give this one a try too. It's DIN/ISO 12757 rated so it's documentary ink.

interesting!... i've used the 9000 (maybe 900???) style before without the "easyflow" name, it was just like any other BP... i'll give this new one a try when i find out where to get it!!... till' then, my favorite, as i said before, still is the 8900 capless RB!!!

I have to second the suggestion for using the Itoya quick dry Gel ink refills. They fit pens using Parker ballpoint pen refills, come in several colors (e.g., blue, green, black, red, purple), write incredibly smoothly, and never gum up--i.e., no little balls of ink gumming up. :)

I use the Fisher pressurized refill in my stainless Parker Jotter, the Parker refill does write smoothly, but has extremely poor ink durability, Parker ballpoint ink is the first one to get eliminated in my solvent tests, Fisher ink seems to be the most durable ballpoint ink

Thanks.. it is refreshing to see some manufacturers giving us better ballpen technology. I tried some regular Scmidt Cross type

refills and they wrote worst than the Cross refills...I was surprised as the Cross refill ink system must date back to the 60's or 70's.

Only, briefly in 2001 did I have some Cross refills that wrote quick and smoothly; they seemed to be an anomoly.

I'd certaintly like to try these new Schmidts in any style. I continue to use the regular Parker refills as the ink (while maybe not the

most durable) seems to be Papermate ink; with some work or technology put into it so it writes smooth and puts ink on the paper.

Please give some feedback if you buy these refills. I'm very interested in what kind of ink this is. Though Schmidt produces here in Germany, I haven't found a shop that sells their original refills. They probably have an arrangement with the pen manufacturers that they can sell their relabled ones. "Passion4Pens" is the only webshop I have found which carries the easyflow 9000 (http://www.passion4pens.com/site/735447/product/R148) - and they are located in the U.S.

BTW, I'm not affiliated with Schmidt or Passion4Pens in any way.

The Schneider 735 and Gelion 39 are better than the latest Parkers (and much cheaper too).

Yes, I agree with this. Again, they're also archival just like Parker refills. I like the Schneider ballpoint refills as they seem to be more color neutral compared to other ink refills. If you do a lot of shading in biro-drawings, you'll see that most Parker refills made in UK (even more so US-made ones) are bluish, while Pilot refills tend to be reddish. Schneiders are in between, similar to a soft lead pencil, which is why I like it. It's easier to compare their different color cast when you write them on glossy paper.

Hi All!

I stumbled across this topic about refills and am looking for advice. We just got in brand new Pilot Gel Timeline pens in from Japan (they're a Japan only product and exclusive to Japan).

They use these refills:

I know it's awfully hard to tell what the refills are like, but does anyone have any suggestions on other pens the refill might fit? I found that the refills are very nice and high quality, and they write in fine point gel lines. So I think this could be an attractive replacement refill if I could gather what other pens it also fits.

Your suggestions are appreciated, thanks!

Nice fine line.

My guess is this will fit Pilot's Center of Gravity ballpoint, which take the BRFN-10F refills. The Pilot Explorer rollerball pen may also take it since this disposable pen also takes BRFN-10F refills. You can check out the dimension of this refill here and compare it with yours.

Would you by any chance sell high-end Pilot ballpoint, gel, and rollerball pens that are only available in the Japanese market? I would think that there's some demand for it here in the US. Personally, I'm looking for the Pilot Custom 74 ballpoint, which might also accept the refill you're asking about.

Edited: grammar corrections.

Hi JetPens!

I just ordered a gel timeline from you guys. Can't wait to get it. Once I get it, I can possibly play around with it and see what pens the refill will fit. But of course, 95% of my ballpoint and gel pens are Japanese ones that you guys have in stock already. LOL.

Does anyone know who sells a good "Type E" ballpoint refill, especially a nice blue color or at least a dark black? The refill I have is such a grayish black. I love the pen (It's a Sensa Cloud 9 pen), but I hate the ink in it. Thanks.

I have tried and use the Visconti Parker style gel refills in both the ball point and roller ball. Extremely good, especially the rollerball.

Cross makes a very good type E refill for its ballpoints. The ink is very rich. I would suggest the broad point as it puts less fatigue on the hand.

Don't know if it has already been mentioned ... but, if not, then a big vote for Caran d'Ache ball point refills. they are without a doubt the smootest, longest lasting, truest colr BP refills I've ever used. while CdA BPs will take Parker-style refills, both BP and Gel, I find the CdA BP refills to be supoerior to all.

I'm a fan of the Visconti gel ballpoint refills. They're the only gel refills I've liked. They're Parker style.
