Pelikan Pen Stand

PrintersDevil

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I hope this is not redundant, but I got my Fahrney's Pen catalog in the mail the other day and saw that they were selling a ceramic Pelikan Pen Stand for US$52.00.

Of course I ordered one right away as I thought they were only provided to retailers and not for general sale.

I can't wait to see it when I get home.

I wish other manufacturers offered distinctive branded pen holders like this.

Joe

How does it look like? Is it the big or small bird?

Here is a photo of the small size which measures approximately 1 3/4 inches (45mm) wide by 2 1/2 inches (64mm) deep and stands approximately 2 3/4 inches (70mm) high.

and here is the larger size, measuring approximately 2 inches (51mm) wide by 3 inches (76mm) deep standing 6.5 inches (165mm) high. In both cases the pens are M800's. While the pictures are a bit deceptive since they are not side by side, the larger size is actually much larger than the smaller.

i have a 1930s pen stand of an swooping eagle clutching and you slide the pen barrel through the claws, It was custom made in Dresden, Germany,

me thinks it was some kind of *ahem *party symbol but no markings anywhere so i nabbed it

So we left it at that. He showed us the maneuver after a sort. B*****d stole my kill.'

Hello,

The stand I got from Fahrneys was the large size and it is quite impressive sitting on my desk.

Makes me smile every time and holds my 800 up where I can easily reach it.

Got mine from Fahrneys last week. Just makes me smile too when I look at it! Would like to find one of the smaller Pelikan pen stands.

I have the large one in cobalt blue.

These stands are great. I'm looking for a small blue one and one of the large white ones. I've been aware of the Farhney's stand but was hoping to stumble across one cheaper but it looks like I may have to pick one up.

I saw the small white one in Bertram's Ink Well Pelikan display today, but he won't sell them! :(

As of last Friday, Fahrneys said they had six left in stock. Maybe only five after my purchase. $52 is the best price I've seen anywhere.

Oh, now I want one of these. The problem is, I don't really have a desk -- most of the pens and inks are on either my dresser or a small bookcase between it and my bed (the bookcase has the nice boxes that I store ink bottles and vial trays in, back volumes of my journal, the current journal and Ink journal, and the cannister with most of the currently inked pens; it doubles as a nightstand, so it also has my alarm clock and a few toiletries on the top shelf).

Beautiful composition, Tasmith! I've been looking for a small one too....Fyi: there's one here, but it's $70 and doesn't have a pen stand--maybe an earlier version? http://www.martiniauctions.com/item/id/Pelikan_ceramic_bird_darkblue_only_6_5_cm_high__15656.html

Thank you Paloma32. The Pelikan looks like it may have a recessed area above it's left wing to hold a pen.

It's kind of like the Oscar of fountain pens!
