get the stip, it is a piston filler, it is made of ebonite and it has a flex nib, the modern duofold has a rigid nib, is made of plexiglas and is a converted model. Modern Parker isn't worthy to purchase.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

This pen turned out different then I expected...

When I was there last year, I saw them making the trims. It looked like the detail would who much more. I kind o thought the clip ring and clip would be transparent...

Its kind of hard to tell what it is when its that detailed.

The one who does all the sculptures/clips/bands for Stipula is a very talented man. Very friendly as well. We spend a little time in the shop.

Here are a few pics of him and the original cut outs done by hand of the clip band before it was transferred to the smaller size.

Ciao,

Bry

Thanks to Bryant for this posting!

Firenze brings my memory in my youth studying art. Lived right next to Uffizi, the Arno and piazza signori a where a copy of David statue is, the Duomo... I have visited twice since then and I still want to go back again. Only if I knew Stipula back then I would've paid a visit. I may have an excuse to go back again.

Yes this was a great read, I remember this post.

The pen isn't my cup of tea, but I do love the philosophy behind it, and reading your post about bringing back those memories puts a smile on my face :)

I'd say this is a no-brainer after reading the above post...

It's a vintage (1940) near mint and restored Parker Duofold Big Red in fine nib for less than $400.

Stipula Etruria Tuscany Dream can be had for $600 and I've seen a posting with this pen equipped with italic rose gold and it's fabulous especially with italic style writing.

Near Mint Parker Duofold Big Red (vintage) for $375

New Stipula Etruria Tuscany Dream for $600

I have contacted Bryant and see what happens as he only have #1 of 351 Limited Edition.

Crossing my fingers. This #1 pen cost more than regular editions.

I placed an order through Bryant on the stock pen, not #1.

I look forward to it.

I've got MB Dumas this week and got Stipula Tuscany this week. I'd better slow down.

I'm sure that theres always a Parker Big Red waiting for me in the future.

I forgot that I had bought Oma's Extra Lucens Flessible last week and haven't even dipped it yet.

I'd really better slow down.
