Replacement Nib For Laureat

Hi thanks to FPN, I found out that my Laureat's nib is compatible with some other products.

 

Now, I have to choose which nibs I will replace and I want FPN's suggestions.

 

The nibs I can get is, Harmonie nibs for 35$, and Expert 2 nibs for 45$.

 

I think this is quite expensive, but I couldn't figure out other compatible nibs

 

(if someone could give me a site that sells any other compatible nibs at a cheaper price, that would be great.)

 

I really liked my laureat nib which was smooth and flawless to write,

 

so I want my replacement nibs to be just as good as the original one.

 

Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Patience and get the right nib.

 

I have just purchased this pair of new unused pens, individually boxed, with converters (albeit those useless new styles) for £19.90 ($30) total,

Those nibs from other models aren't just compatible but identical. The sections are different but nib and feed are the same.

But if you can just hire Force to find you some beautiful and bargain replacement Laureats I'd do that.

So after all the feed and the nib used in harmonie expert2 allure is completely identical?

But if that is the case, wouldnt those pen all give you the same writing experience?

I dont understand why people would buy expert2 when they can get harmonie at cheaper price.

Or is it the design that matters?

 

I also dont know why people recommend getting laureat nib when it is same with other pens.

You know, this is the case in several brands. They use the same nib and feed for all their models, making the writingexperience the same.

 

For me it is the reason I do not buy any new Conway Stewarts, as I already have all the nibs I want.

 

To be honest, the shape and weight of a pen also have some influence on the writing, but for me not enough to warrant an new buy.

 

But then again, I am not a collector, I am more a hoarder....

Hi My wifes Laureat 3 Fountain pens nib is bent. It was a 21st present for her and I would like to get it repaired. I have removed the nib from the pen and have tried reading many forums on this site. The nib is a medium gold colored nib. Where can I get a replacement nib? I don't want to spend a great deal. If not a straight replacement something similar. Ideally I would just like to replace the metal bit of the nib. I have not tried Waterman directy but I am sure they will be pretty costly. Please can you point me to a site or company that will sell me one. Thanks in advance. Dave

I doubt you will find them readily for sale and if you did I suspect to prices would be high. Ebay is still your best bet but even there you will probably have to buy a complete pen. Looking back through completed listings there are pens that have sold for as little as £15 and some that have not sold for £20...maybe a message to one of those failures might get you a cheaper pen.

I have four and they all write well. The medium (M) puts down a lot of ink. I don't know the difference among the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd(?) generations. Two of mine have a curve at the clip top with a slightly crowned jewel(is that right?) and two have a square flattop.

You could stub a broad nib. I have a broad (L) nib in a silver plated Laureat version one, and I have considered stubbing it. The pen is so beautiful that I am not sure I want to chance ruining it, though.

 

The Expert 2 two tone nibs look lovely in a Laureat version two. I have two, red and green swirl with EF Expert 2 two tone nibs. I guess this is semi-franken, though.

 

I have also used an older Waterman Ideal number two 14K nib in a Laureat version one. It works perfectly and I like it. The pen is a tortoise with red and black horizantal bands. Looks pretty nice. I have a couple of the gold number two nibs from ruining Waterman pens I tried to resac. Burned them with heat.
