Has Anybody Ever Heard Of The Rainbow 202?

Hello Everybody,

 

The very first pen that got me interested in fountain pens was one I received a while back, I got a Rainbow 202 in all of the original packaging, I have been looking on the internet to find some ideas on how much it is worth and other specs about it. I haven't been able to find out much besides a couple of pictures that look like my pen. I was wondering if anybody could give me a some background on the company and maybe an estimate of how much it is worth.

Assuming it is this one, it appear to be made by possibly a subsidiary of the main Chinese pen company Hero as they make similar Parker styled (ripped off) designs. It could be a perfectly good writer.

I have a different example of Rainbow's output; they're non-horrible pens of the cheap sort. While I can't speak to the 202, my 811 suggests that you shouldn't pay more than $20 if you want to avoid becoming angry.

I have a Rainbow 201. Non-horrible describes it pretty well. I agree $20.00 is top top dollar in value.

China flooded with this pens all commercial partners (soviet allies) after 1980's. I've checked internet for Rainbow nostalgics - they are coming from Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Iraq, etc..

I have one from several years ago and construction quality is well below some of the other well known Chinese pens. I would say a Rainbow 202 is to Hero 616 like Hero 616 is to a P21. Hope the comparison makes sense. I think I paid $2 for mine, IIRC.

I have used Rainbow 202 pen during 1990-91, that pen is made in China. That was really a best pen. I miss Rainbow 202. During that era, I have purchased with Pakistani Rs. 22.

I still have 1 or perhaps 2 of the Rainbow 202 pens from the 90s. They are good quality as well good writing pens.
