Desk Pen With Roll Stopper

Recommended Posts

A commission I just completed. The customer wanted a large desk pen with a roll stopper fitted on the barrel end. The Gecko was chosen, and I felt it wood look best wrapped around the pen, hence the positioning. It is not solid, so there is not too much weight to it.

It is a button filler fitted with a JoWo 18k old nib from oxonian.

C&C's welcome

Beautiful pen. Why do you call it a 'desk pen'? It seems to be of normal length. Am I missing something?

Such a cool design! For me the cap would be the place for Mr. Gecko, but to each his own. Well done John!

Very nice pen! notworthy1.gif

This is the first time I have noticed your makers mark. Have they always been on your pens?

The Gecko is a great alternative to a clip and I understand why it is not on the cap. Bad enough if the cap rolls off the desk but a disaster if the pen is set down for a second and it rolls off. crybaby.gif

Thank you all for the words of encouragement, they are greatly appreciated.

I could have sworn I posted this in the new gallery...oh well.

The pen capped is 170mm and it is 16mm wide.

Thanks Pete. This is the first time I've engraved my details on a pen, which was at the customers request. I tried to make it as subtle as possible.

You are spot on with the reason why he wanted the stopper on that end.

Well, here is a reason for my first comment on FPN - I'm the one who ordered this work of art.

It will take few more days till I get it, so all I can do now is share your thoughts on how it looks from the pictures and it looks gorgeous!

As for the engraving, if you'll look closely you'll see the date of manufacturing (March 2013) - this is because even though I quite detailed the specifications of the pen to john, I gave John a free hand at many design details of the pen (starting with color and ending with the design of the roll stopper) and I felt it should be "signed" by its creator.

One more thing that I should comment about is that working with John on this pen (well John did the working and I just told him what I want) was a pure pleasure. John is a very kind person and he was more than willing to meet any odd request that I had. Thank you John.
