Desk Sets?

Hello!

 

I picked up a 149 recently and have been considering getting one of the desk pen holders for it. The question I have is: do they still sell these at the boutiques? All I have been able to find so far have been people selling them on the secondary markets. Same goes for the inkwell and other desk accessories.

I think they have stopped making the nice Meisterstruck sets since they have been unavailable for some time. I find a few pen stands at boutiques and the inkwells are just about impossible to get. My Authorized Dealer has tried to acquire an inkwell for me for 2 years and no joy yet.

You may still find the pen holder from some ADs (i.e., Wordlux, no affiliations...), and also the inkwell and the blotter (a work of art). As for the pen holder, I strongly support you in your decision of buying one: it is a great object and really helps using your 149 when at the desk. I have two pen holders for the 149, one for the 146, an inkwell, I am waiting for a blotter in led crystal and thinking about a third stand for the 149 (to hold a Hemingway or a Dumas LE).

In case people are wondering, my local MB boutique has informed me that there is one (1!!) 149 pen holder in the entire company. Now, that may be just the USA, but I guess they really are not making these things any more.

 

For what it is worth, my local boutique in Tyson's Corner, VA did have one of the inkwells used as a display piece. I am not sure if they'd be willing to sell it or not.

The convenience of a desk stand just can't be beat.

 

The boutiques in the US would be the last to know if something was discontinued, but I highly doubt the MB 149 stands are discontinued. The inventory practices of MB North America leave much to be desired and I suspect they have just run short. I remember a couple years back the stands were backordered in the US so I think a similar situation is soon to play out again. After this one sells, they will be back in stock in a couple months.

So that is where all the stands have gone to! In all seriousness, quite a nice collection. I have my local boutique bringing the one remaining stand in from Arizona -- hopefully, it isn't in bad shape.
