Late 19Th Century Dip Pen & Pencil Combo

Recommended Posts

This lovely, engraved, late nineteenth century dip pen & pencil combination retracts to 3½". It's engraved "From A Friend." I'm fascinated by old dip pens and this is my most recent find. (Sadly, the pencil side is missing a part that connects to the slider so it only retracts manually but the dip pen side works.)

Here it is retracted:

That's very Sweet JBB. Do you have more nibs that fit it?

I've got an Esterbrook 128 nib in there right now which fits fine. It doens't require one of those teeny nibs like skinny mother-of-pearl Victorian dip pens did so I'm sure I've got a variety that will work. (I have a lot of nibs.)

These victorian style dip pen / pencil combos are indeed fun and beautiful. I love to see the variety and ingenuity used in the mechanisms for these little jewels!
