Who Makes The Best Clear Demonstrator

Recommended Posts

I know this is going to be highly subjective, but who makes the best demonstrator?

It has to be clear (meaning no color tint), a F or XF nib, piston, and collectible

Please weigh in.

Hi Dave... I'm very much a newbee around here and don't have much to compare to but I just received my Pelikan M200 demonstrator, special edition yesterday and am so enthused about it that I was happy to find a thread I could talk about it on! I opted to get it with an M400 F nib, which is a very ornate nib that I can't stop admiring. I think I'm going to take a picture of it, enlarge it and hang it on my wall. The write up on the pen was that it was collectible as it was a special edition with a limited time availability. It's also reasonably priced all things considered.

For the little I have to compare it to, the nib writes a little fatter than my Safari F but also smoother. I'm using different inks in each... Pelikan's brilliant black in the M200 and Noodler's Aircorp in the Lamy so perhaps it's not a fair comparison. It also writes a tiny bit fatter than my Sailor 1911 with M nib, which is also using the Aircorp Blue/black. Being fairly new to fp's I am still not used to how nice they write, how effortlessly the ink flows as the pen glides across the paper and this pen/nib is the finest I've personally used.

I actually didn't have any interest in getting a demonstrator till I saw that one online and it really jumped out at me with the gold on clear body and the black workings inside. I love the way the black ink splashes around inside the pen.

Thanks guys for replying.

I wasnt initially attracted to demonstrators until I started to research them and then fell in love with them.

I just ordered a Visconti Opera Crystal Demonstrator Limited Edition with a F nib.

Thanks,

Dave

I have one of those - my only demonstrator other than my TWSBI - which I picked up on eBay recently for £36. With a zoom nib too :)

The pen I am using today is a Pilot Heritage 92 demonstrator - clear, no tint, fine nib. It is fabulous, particularly with interesting inks (I am using Pilot's Fuyu-Gaki). You can't go wrong with something like this.

Just got it and was smitten with its writing ability. Then I lost the inner cap and now it has to got all the way to Japan to be fixed.

Hi,

I really like the Pilot Custom 74. You can see the nib and feed, and see how it works. I also like the Aurora demonstrators.

Personally it would probably be a tie between the Aurora 88 black and the Conid bulkfiller. But there are some nice ones at various price ranges.

There is also the pelikan m1000.

But the prize would have to go to the MB 149 demo as this would be rare!

I wish i had a 149 demo! What a pen that would be!

Out of the pens I have actually owned, I love the design and slightly misted clear material of the stipula etruria demonstrator.

My two best writers.

I am fortunate to have an original 149 demo. I also have a 139 demo, completely clear, even the feed is clear. They are both magnificent.

Demonstrators don't have a special appeal to me, but I'm very fond of my clear Pilot Custom 823. It's a tremendous performer and I must admit that it looks great when filled with certain inks. Noodler's Habanero and Private Reserve American Blue to name a couple of favorites for this pen.

I've just laid my hands on a Pelikan M1005 Demonstrator - it is scheduled for its first test-run this week.

I'll keep you posted but just from the look of it, I'd already say that this is my winner.

It's fitted with an impressive white gold 'M' nib which displays quite some flex.

The nib on this demonstrator is wonderful; looking forward to hearing about it. I found this picture:
