Help Identifying A Diplomat Pen

Hiya all,

I just come across a fountain pen that I purchased years ago and completely forgot I had. It is from the diplomat classic collection range but I have no idea what model it is despite searching the web, so here I am asking for advice from you lovely people!

The nib has Diplomat on it with the Mont Blanc logo and 1922 below it. There is a gold band around it saying Diplomat Classic Collection.

Photos attached for your viewing pleasure :-)

I would be most grateful if you could let me know of the model if at all possible and a rough idea of it's value (if it's actually worth anything...)

Cheers

Hi Honkytonk82.

My first fountain pen was a Diplomat from the Classic Collection. I don't think they had any more specific model name.

I purchased mine on clearance when Staples stopped carrying Diplomat pens. At that time - about 9 years ago - they retailed for somewhere in the vicinity of $105 - $125. I purchased my clearance pen, without a box or papers, for only $27.

IMHO they are an excellent value. I have never had a problem with skipping, drying, etc. There are several threads about Diplomats here on FPN. Use it and enjoy it!

Hi Honk

This is a Diplomat imprint, not a Montblanc logo.

  • 1 year later...

So, this model is the Diplomat Classic Collection. At its time, it was like the company's flagship. The model you have has the Diplomat German Cross on it, that's discontinued for about 20 years. It's a great pen, you should keep it! :D It has gold layer nib, rings, clip and the part where it says "Classic Collection" also. It's laqcuered, with 4 layers. Hand painted. Never heard of another nib size for this model.

Edit: MSRP its around USD 90 (used) - USD 250 (New Old Stock). At the it was released it was around USD 115.

Cheers!
