Mont Blanc Nazi Pens

Recommended Posts

Dear FPN,

It is nice to be back home after a long summer, as Im not in Burma working any longer I will now have time to update a few details and my profile. However I have these nice pens from my travels, and there is only one That I will share on the MB pages, I may show a watermans ink-vue to get the posibility of correct date and also too make sure the nib goes with the pen.

I probably purchased 140 pens some biros since early spring, all over the world, some in england at auctions, some at shops in Belgie, Holland, Germany and Italy. The tour with Ivana S. at Stipula did not materlise, as I could not get to Florence, but still have an invitation.

Nw lets just see what kind of replies I get from this. After reading and seeing that huge metal swastikar on that bade that was somehow fixed on that pen, you do not have to be a rocket scientist, to say t as a fake. In fact Im sure that my wannabe MB is not wat it is at all, bu a simplyexplanation like, On the barrell opposite side in all upper case lettering and of course I have pics to go with this so please just bear with me if i forget how to manage my pics etc.

so on t he cap the single gold band old style logo with the mountain top and the old style clip. It is a piston fillr and I have been usg her for months now as she is super smoothwriter.

normal ambered view section below the feed. Now the blind cap, M is there as is EF on the other and so on, the 3341/2 is there in white like the cap, but above the 333 1/2 is the initial and they are also different font and looks to be a different technique in the engraving, that reads S.-S. Now I read all those bedtime stories too. My gut says that man STOFFHAAS that has his name on the cap. mad have wanted to have is initials on his name,

so he has sid or sydney or sigfridd and his surname as stoffhaas, SS but not S.S. even in Germnay, you only use and please corrct me if im wrong as im not german and i do not live in germany at the present moment. If your company was stoffhaas steelworks, maybe you use S.-S. but not with a name unless it wassomething the old german yekkies did.

I will put the pictures on now. I also always wanted to sell my pens on here but ebay i think has always gave me a good plateform. I still think we should do a hall of fame ebay pen seller list. Masybe one of the top mods would organise that.

If not with some permission I will start off a new thread as I would like to contribute more especially in the pen, pencil areas and not just joking around. Its fun to make a joke here and there but i read all my posts and they sometimes digress quickly.

So in adavnce of my continual sabbath I will hopefully be back only here say sunday, again I hope this is not re opening the can of old worms as the pen I have looks like any other engraved MB just had a extra bit on the blind cap Im not familiar with.

Enjoy the weekend, and just a quick not the pen i flushed today is that Red watermans ink vue, and im using parker black ink.

will also repair a danish parker vacumatic this weekend. Tot ziens

Stöffhaas is not a guy, but a shop from Hamburg that has sold Montblanc pens exclusively. I guess that S.-S. is some sort of "Stöffhaas Schreibwaren" ("Stoffhaas stationery shop").

For a name you don't use the "-" in German, and for the Nazi organisation just "SS" is used; btw many people have two S as initials and use them, my sister is one of them, but she has definitely nothing to with that. Some times past times are past times.

So: no Montblanc Nazi Pen (as you have titled)

But congratulations to the many pens you have found!

Goede Avonds Michael,

Thank you for that, as I thought and as you were so quiick reply. That these are just bedtime stories. Do you think Omas or Pelikan made SS pen equipment? It seems that when I watch a film now days IM always doing a bit of pen spotting. Like that Omas with the doamond on Tink Tailor Soldier Spy film.

I do not think that that increased the value as I know american companies did not do this sort or thing. I collect 4711 items, and I find many items from that Fabrik, that gives you indications about how tings come together, and I think that is so fitting the past is the past, sometimes people need to leave dead dogs laying. Thats an american saying slang but still saying about the past. In Burma if you ask the question and the answer you want to hear is not given the first time, you just leave it and move on, but if you ask the 2nd time they may say the same answer again, but if you continue on, you will soon wear your welcome out, and I doubt you will ever ask that question again.

Take good care, and again thanks for just realising my own gut instinct that this could never be and if it was, it is still in the drawer in Buenos Aires and belongs to to the grandson now.

I came across an antique dealer in Dresden who had many Montblancs manufactured during the second world war. He said that these were the pens available to the Nazi officials. None of the pens had any Nazi markings.

I only have two pens - an Aurora Optima and others.

Ah... I've seen "Stoffhaas" on several MBs and now I know what it means. I, too, thought it was a name engraved on the pen.

Of course they have made pens that have been used by the SS - there's no proof, but it's more than likely. But I don't know if there has any official order from the SS from Pelikan/Omas/Montblanc: "make us a pen with Swastika and/or SS-runes". Actually I doubt it very much.

Most of the products for daily use in that time didn't have any Nazi markings at all - and if they had some markings the people were quite eager to get rid of them later.

You're welcome. Have a close look at the pens, some models were exclusively made for Stöffhaas (it should be with ö, not with o) in Hamburg (later also in Berlin and Leipzig) and only sold there, nowhere else. Some time ago we had a discussion about that in a German Forum and some consider Stöffhaas as a subbrand of Montblanc.

Michael

Montblanc NEVER made a "nazi pen".

There were indeed manufacturers who used the swastika in their marketing campaigns. Nazi officials forbade this practice because they wanted to control how their symbols and insignias were used in public.

I do not mind days like this here in Michigan, as long as there is no white stuff.

I think this thread has been hijacked by Monty Python. My sister was bitten by a llama once.

My goodness! That sounds as though it was incredibly painful. I do hope she was not too affected!

:hmm1: I always thought llamas to such considerate creatures. I was not aware they had the capacity for such bad manners!

If it isn't too indelicate a question, may I ask where exactly your good sister sustained her injury?

@bhavini, I really like the Sailor Hocoro dip pen. It’s inexpensive, easy to clean, and if you get one with a nib that has a feed, you can get quite a few lines of writing before you have to dip again. I have a fude nib, which I use for swatching and line variation while writing.

What's a relatively cheap tool for a newbie to use to try out new inks, without inking up a pen? I've a bunch of ink samples on their way but I just want to play around with them before I decide on which ones I want to buy more of for writing. I've never used anything except a fountain pen to write with ink before.

It's gonna end where 1929 left us: a world war, shambles, and 'growth by rebuilding'. That's the conservative view of cycling history --and the big plan. Even if our generations perish.
    • lamarax 11 Apr 0:49
Of course trade wars are much, more important than the prices of consumer products. The true intention is to weaken the dollar, so that the Chinese start selling their US held debt. But the dollar being the defacto world reserve currency, it doesn't lose value that easily. So the idea is to target trade through artificially raising prices. Problem is, inflation will skyrocket. Good luck with that.

In Europe, the only (truly) American produced brand is Esterbrook AFAIK. Tariffs will make Esterbrook products compete on the same level as some high-end European brands (let's say Aurora), while clearly the product is manufactured to compete on a much lower price level.
    • lamarax 11 Apr 0:24
So let's say you want to buy a Montblanc or whatever. You pay the current tariff on top of the usual price, unless your local distributor is willing to absorb (some) of the difference
    • lamarax 11 Apr 0:20
Tariffs are paid by the importer, not the exporter.
    • TheQuillDeal 10 Apr 2:44
Can anyone explain how the tariff war will affect fountain pen prices??

Cappuccino should work. Frothy milk also helps to lubricate the nib. But it has to be made by a barista.

No replies required to my complaints about the Pelikan. A friend came to the rescue with some very magnification equipment - with the images thrown to a latge high res screen. Technology is a wonderful thing. Thanks to Mercian for the reply. I had been using the same paper & ink for sometime when the "singing" started. I have a theory but no proof that nibs get damaged when capping the pen. 👍
    • Mercian 22 Oct 22:28
@FineFinerFinest: sometimes nib-'singing' can be lessened - or even cured - by changing the ink that one is putting through the pen, or the paper that one is using. N.b. *sometimes*. Good luck

I'm not expecting any replies to my question about the singing Pelikan nib. It seems, from reading the background, that I am not alone. It's a nice pen. It's such a pity Pelikan can't make decent nibs. I have occasionally met users who tell me how wonderful their Pelikan nib is. I've spent enough money to know that not everyone has this experience. I've worked on nibs occasionally over forty years with great success. This one has me beaten. I won't be buying any more Pelikan pens. 👎

Back to FPN after 14 years. First thing I noticed is that I could not see a FS forum. What has changed? 🤔

Hello! Is there a thread anywhere 'round here where one can post self-composed poetry? If not, would it be alright if I made one? I searched on google, but to no avail...

I have several Parker Roller Ball & Fiber Tip refills in the original packaging. Where and how do I sell them? The couple that I've opened the ink still flowed when put to paper. Also if a pen would take the foller ball refill then it should take the fiber tip as well? Anyway it's been awhile and I'm want to take my message collection beyond the few pieces that I have... Meaning I don't have a Parker these refills will fit in 🙄

Recently was lucky enough to buy a pristine example of the CF crocodile ball with the gold plating. Then of course I faced the same problem we all have over the years ,of trying to find e refill. Fortunately I discovered one here in the U.K. I wonder if there are other sources which exist in other countries, by the way they were not cheap pen

I have a Conway Stewart Trafalgar set. It was previously owned by actor Russell Crowe and includes a letter from him. Can anyone help me with assessing its value?

There must be a couple of places here to share artworks.
    • T.D. Rabbit 15 July 12:45
Hullo! I really like making ink doodles, and I'd like to share a few. Anywhere on the site I can do so? Thanks in advance!
