A Long Awaited Ebonite

Hi folks. Been a long time since I posted pics of a pen here, but my life has been pretty crazy this year, and not much free time for posting (even for pen making, really :crybaby: ).

I any case, a while back, I got an order for a custom Cumberland Ebonite pen with a fine steel nib. Been working on this over the past couple weeks when time permitted (which was not often):

It's a good size pen, at 154mm capped, and 140mm uncapped. Smoothed the nib a bit, and have had a bit of fun 'test driving' it for its new owner.

Thanks for looking.

Man, that's nice! I like how you matched the pattern up so perfectly on the cap's blind cap.

I may not have been much help, but I DID bump your thread up to the top.

That's just a stunner, Ken! Love Cumberland and your workmanship. That grain match at the finial is perfect!

Ken you did a GREAT job on that - really brought out the best qualities of the cumberland. Thanks for posting it for the rest of us to :puddle: :puddle:

Thanks very much - and thanks to you both for being an awesome source for ebonite (and an amazing array of other great stuff)!

Gasp! That's amazing! The finial's grain matching sends it over the top.

Awesome! Beatiful workmanship and finish. Much much better than my Ratnam ebonite!

Beautifully executed Ken. It was worth the wait!! As others have said the grain match is impeccable, and I totally agree with Richard, that clip is a just perfect.

Very nice. Looks lovely.

Is that a Cigar Pen clip? Looks good there, simple, understated & elegant in this context.

Regards,

Richard.

Thanks very much! As you suspected, the clip is indeed a cigar clip.

Wow! I love the clip! The polish of the finish is stunning too! Hmmm...now, we just need to fit a soft 14k nib on to it ;)

Fantastic job!

Looks most excellent. I need to get me one of them when finances allow.

Thanks for sharing.... pen looks wonderful. I was prompted recently by luck and perhaps fate to meet up with someone like yourself who is now building me a body and cap and use a vintage feed and nib. The sac filling will now be by eyedropper. Is this pen c / c?
