Thanks for the review. What took you so long to try it?

I was using Noodler's Black and various other colours, so Aurora Black was neglected. :)

My go to black ink. It is almost silky, intense. Great for stingy nibs.

Check out this new flickr page for pen wraps

Even after trying nearly all the "blackest black" inks, I always come back to Aurora Black.

For my $, it has the best combination of blackness, good behavior and availability.

Regards, greg

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

excellent review. What nib size did you use?

Medium italic nib done by Mottishaw. I acquired the nib from another fountain pen user; it's a rare nib with the goat and mountain logo stamped on the nib. :)

Aurora Black is the darkest black I could find, and I've loved it ever since I gave it a try. The only real downside is that it tends to bleed through many papers. Can't wait to try their blue.

The best black ink (to me.)

The blue is on the purple side of the street.

Aurora Black is the only ink I use with my Aurora Optimas. It flows very well; at times too well for the some of my "wet" nibs. I have not found any staining on Optima ink windows for such a very "dark" black ink.

I only have two pens - an Aurora Optima and others.

Never grew to love Aurora Black and am a little perplexed by the cult that's formed around it. My bottle is still mostly full so I'll have to give it a few more tries before I dismiss it completely.

Since I've only had this ink for a couple of weeks I must say I really found my perfect black. I compared it with HOD and do not like HOD's brown undertones. The aurora black is what I like to call a cooler black while the hod has a warmer black colour. Flows well in every pen bleeds through only on copy paper. Right now my go to black ink'!
