Michael's Pens / Fat Boy Fountain Pen

I saw two go by on eBay just now. I didn't get them mainly because the seller had horrible feedback. They went pretty cheap compared to the new price though, so I wondered if anyone had one.

I did a quick search and didn't see any reviews here, but I certainly could have missed something.

I have seen these pens in person, and I can certainly say they are not for me.

I would understand why a fountain pen forum wouldn't have a review of a ball point.

Tell me about any of your new pens and help with fountain pen quality control research!

I assume the OP was referring to one of the Fat Boy FPs

I don't have one, and I couldn't find any dimensions on Michael's web site, but I was wondering how it compares to the Japanese Jumbo Pen from this FPN post. (I happen to have a Jumbo Pen, but I haven't been brave enough to even try filling it. Eventually I'll post a photo and ask some questions here)

Yah, sorry, I meant the FPs, like this one:

Actually, I happen to own a ballpoint from them... it's a few years old, I got it out of a bargain bin. So I probably have more info then some folks, at least about the size and weight. I had planned to give it as a gift actually.

I do have a ball point, the P51 for the P51 Mustang, that was the only reason I brought it, as a novelty.

In my opinion it's too similar to a kit pen you can get - so not worth getting in my opinion.

Holy Cow. Ok, I'm over it, tyvm :notworthy1:

yes and no.. I own a ballpoint Fatboy and tried the FP when Michael was visiting my local store.

While the kit pen cited may match the shape and possibly the feel of a Fatboy FP, there is no way it

can compete on build quality and longevity. The Fatboy FPs actually feel thinner then the BPs which

is probably a good thing. If one can get used to writing with heavy pens of large girth Fatboys are really

quality pieces that will last a long time.

Those look awful, in my opinion. I find it difficult to grasp the aesthetic value of those pens, and I don't consider myself very refined.

I don't see any objections based on the actual function of the pen, only its aesthetics. If you like it, it makes no sense whatsoever to get a kit pen that might be the same size but looks totally different. Use what you like.
