Colorado/denver Metro Area Pen Posse

At long last, after much discussion, our plans for the first 2012 Colorado pen posse have been finalized. Here is the scoop:

Colorado Pen Posse Meeting

10:30 a.m. until ??

Saturday, June 30, 2012

Location: 6969 W. 90th Avenue, Westminster, at the Remington West Apartment complex, on 90th Avenue between Wadsworth and Pierce.

Access from Hwy 36 can be via the Wadsworth/Hwy 287 or Sheridan exits.

Please PM IWantThat(Tamara) for directions and to RSVP.

As an added treat, Pendleton Brown will be at this posse to meet with us, chat about pens, and share the day. There is absolutely no obligation to buy, but he will be bringing some of the pens that he has already worked his nibmeister magic on with him; they are for sale to any that might be interested.

For background on all of this you can check this (long) thread if you wish: Denver/Front Range Pen Club

Very Cool! Glad you were able to get it setup, and to see a good number of attendees!

FP Ink Orphanage-Is an ink not working with your pens, not the color you're looking for, is never to see the light of day again?!! If this is you, and the ink is in fine condition otherwise, don't dump it down the sink, or throw it into the trash, send it to me (payment can be negotiated), and I will provide it a nice safe home with love, and a decent meal of paper! Please PM me!For Sale: TBA

Update, Update, Update:

Unfortunately it doesn't look as if Pendleton will be coming after all. He was coming out to Colorado for a family reunion and was going to make a side trip to our pen posse because he was going to be in the area. Apparently his family plans changed so he is not likely to make it to Colorado.

I am sure I am not the only one that is disappointed by this BUT it wasn't all about him, anyway. We wanted a pen posse so that those of us here in Colorado could meet each other and talk pens, enjoy our obsession...I mean hobby....with other folks that appreciate fountain and dip pens and all the associated paraphernalia.

The pen posse is still going to happen as scheduled. Come one, come all - we are going to have a lot of fun! Pendleton is the one that is going to miss out. :P

You folks are so nice to put this meeting so close to where I'll be staying!

I'm not Pendleton but I've shared many meals and late nights with him at the grinder and me doing all possible to distract him! I do have a VP nib he did for me a couple of years ago in LA...

Ok, count me in! I'll plan on bringing my toys by then... Confuses the heck out of TSA...

I would love to attend. But 10:30am? :( That is the middle of my sleep period.

You must work the night shift...sorry adt475. It will certainly last for a few hours, but if 10:30 AM is in the middle of your sleep time, that probably doesn't help you. :( I am taking the day off work to attend - 10:30 AM is in the middle of my usual Saturday work day. Perhaps you could take the night before off??

Yes on the night shift: 6:45pm to 7:15am

Unfortunately my schedule that week is Thurs (28th) through Sun (01 July), so I would almost have to take off both Fri & Sat nights.

Hopefully, after a successful first meeting of the Colorado/Denver Metro Area Pen Posse, more get togethers will be scheduled; some of which I would love to attend.

Sorry you won't be able to come to this meeting, Alan. :( Taking two days off for a three to four hour pen posse, no matter how much fun it will be, is probably a bit much. I am quite certain we will have more meetings, including those like the "mini-posse" four of us recently had, so hopefully your schedule will allow you to attend some of them.

Dear Colorado Pen Posse ~

I just returned from a wonderful blur of a weekend in both NY and Chicago. In Chicago I did the Pen Show, but in New York I spent 6 hours doing nib work at Art Brown International Pen Shop which was a success for both me and the shop.

I had been invited to NY by the Big Apple Pen Club (Manhattan's posse) and to help cover my expenses I contacted Art Brown IPS. They were very enthusiastic about setting me up with a small table to grind, tweak & smooth nibs. This brought customers into the store who also bought pens, ink, paper and other goodies.

To further the excitement, the Big Apple Pen Club met at the store that evening which helped me since aI did not have to pack up and move to another location. The proprietors thought this might be a nice on-going once-a-month group to host (the club meetings)) and have invited me back for an upcoming pen fair.

There are several pen shops in your area. Which do you think would be the best for me to contact to spend several hours on Friday the 29th? Any chance we could follow the above scenario there on Saturday the 30th?

Thanks for your input. thumbup.gif I look forward to seeing you all.

Hi Pendleton - sent you a PM about this. Didn't realize your plans had changed again and you were still coming to Colorado. Paradise Pens is the only dedicated pen shop we have in the Denver metro area; they may not have the room to accommodate you. The other places that also happen to sell pens, Guiry's and Meiningers, are certainly not focused on pens, but you can check with them as well. Let us know how it works out!

We have already selected and reserved a place for our pen posse meeting on the 30th; by all means stop by if you are in the area. We will be talking pens and inks and having a very good time and you are welcome to join us! :)
