What Ink On Black Paper?

Hey folks

 

Was wondering if anyone here could help me find an ink (mainly colour-wise) that would show up on black paper? Am mainly asking in regards to dip pen inks, so any ideas or info would be great!

I was going to say, dip pen and dip pen ink would be the only way to go. JBB makes a metallic ink, and Jetpens sells a white ink used for manga illustrators I think.

Ooh - ta for the info, PD! I was thinking of maybe an acrylic ink or something metallic, but thought it might be worth asking peeps on here..

Gel pens work well on black paper if they are pastel colors. JetPens sells a white one that is pretty good. Along with some pastel colors, too. Once upon a time you could buy black post-it notes to use with the gel/gelly rollers, too.

 

Edit to add: Don't forget the dip pen gold and silver inks. They can be difficult, but once you get the hang of them, they are so much fun on black paper.

Well, I do have a couple of Sakura white gel pens, and they work great on black paper - but I will keep an eye out for some decent inks (metallic, etc) to try; reckon even a nice yellow would look great on black!

My mixture is made of fine metallic powder, gum Arabic & water.

I'm always reading posts on FPN that make me want to buy things too. My homemade metallic ink is nicer than any of the commercially sold ones I've tried. There are many gorgeous metallic powder colors to chose from and they're inexpensive to buy.

Hi,

 

I found the FW acrylic inks from Daler Rowney offer high opacity, water resistance, good handling and excellent performance on very challenging surfaces.

 

Those inks can be diluted with plain water to adjust the flow to match the type of nib. e.g. I use it at bottle strength for dip pen nibs without reservoirs, and dilute the ink when using nibs with reservoir/s. Dilution also alters the opacity.

 

Even though they produce a wide range of colours, three 'process colours' are also on offer, so generating one's own custom colours is supported. Those inks can be intermixed without the compatibility concerns that stalk mixers of FP inks.

 

Clean-up with plain water is a breeze.

 

Their pearlescent inks are great for accent/flourishs, and kids' stuff. (I love it too!)

I do that sometimes but I also use traditional dip pen holders.

Probably: WW is designed for mixing. It is not opaque enough to show up on black paper. Or pretty much any paper for that matter. It actually becomes more or less invisible, and can only then be seen under UV.

 

White Peacock is the one designed for this sort of work.

That was my review and over time I stopped liking and using White Peacock ink.
