Edison Nouveau Premiere V Edison Herald

Since the Edison Herald is now going into the production line and the Premiere was already in the production line but only sold via the Goulet's, is there a difference in the two pens? Im trying to figure out if they are both the same pens. I know Edison made some modifications to the Herald but is that what the only difference is? Just confused.

I've had both. The Herald is much better. It just feels better, better size, everything. I'm actually surprised that Brian made it a production pen. My personal feeling is that Brian will eventually move away completely from the signature pens. I don't know yet how I feel about this. Regardless of how I feel, the Herald is an awesome pen.

There are pretty big differences between the two pens.

Cap - the Premiere is thinner. Length is approximately the same. The Premiere is pointier. Obviously, there's a big difference in the clip.

Section - the Herald is thicker. The Herald also has a different shape. Rather than an even concave curve, the Herald has more dramatic flare towards the end.

Barrel - The Premiere is thinner. The length of the Premiere is longer. The Premiere is pointier.

Overall - The Premier is thinner with regards to every part. The barrel is significantly longer. The shape is overall pointier.

So even though they are both cigar shaped in general, they are definitely very different pens. They feel very different in the hand.

I don't have time now with all the Philly Pen Show preparation going on, but remind me, and I'll snap pics of both pens next to each other. When you see them side by side, the differences become quite evident.

And Heraclitus - the custom side of the business will probably never go away. Production is nice for volume, but it's also very very repetitive. After a day of making nothing but the same pen parts, I really look forward to custom orders where I can get some variety!

Thanks.

That's good to hear Brian. You're our best custom pen maker and so far the only I contact when I have some extra bucks.Just not a fan of the production pens so far. Don't get me wrong though. As soon as the Pearl and/or Glenmont go production i'll be first in line.

Thanks! The business started with Custom, and I enjoy it too much to ever say goodbye to it. And remember that even if a pen leaves the Signature Line, there's no reason that I can't make another with any material that any customer wants. But of course, it can't be the same material as the Production Version, and the price is the same as all the other custom pens.

And my schedule freed up a bit...here's photos of the two pens next to each other....

What I want to know is if there will ever be any bulb fillers added to the production line. That's what's stopping me from buying the currently available models...I'm just not willing to spend money on C/C pens anymore.

Love my bulb-filler Pearl though. Inked up right now with Noodler's Apache Sunset.

No bulb filling Production Line pens anytime soon...actually, I can pretty confidently say probably never.

Bulb fillers take a whole lot of very meticulous and manual manipulation of the housing, feed, breather tube, sac, etc. to get them to work and fill right.

My overall time involved in making a bulb filler makes it prohibitive to get one into Production Mode.

Thanks.

Bummer, though that makes sense.

I have a Herald and three Premieres. My preference is actually for the Premiere. The extra length makes it more comfortable in my hand. The Herald always feels just a touch too short, although since Brian has made it post more securely for the production line, that could be different now.

I still enjoy my Herald, though. It is a great pen.

I like the thinness of the Premiere, actually, but I prefer the Herald otherwise. But I am extremely happy with both.

My Herald looks slightly different from the Herald in that picture, however. I don't have that flare on the section, I don't think, and the body shape looks different. Maybe I'm seeing things, though. :) Or maybe it's the shadows.

Brian is using a different section shape on the production Herald, and made a few other small changes to the design described in the video on his web page.

I know it's a long shot--but I'd be first in line if you do. Double time if it's a collier. Any nib, any material.

That Golden Tortoise is gorgeous. It's calling my name! I really should not be thinking of buying another pen. :crybaby:

I just ordered my second Herald. Great feel. Nice writing even with

the steel nib.
