Size Comparison: Man 100 Vs Man 200

I'm considering buying a Le Man, but can't decide if the 200 would be more to my liking than a 100. Unfortunately, I can't find either one for a test drive. In terms of size and weight, my "ideal" pen is the Pelikan 600; I like my 800, but don't find it as comfortable as my 600. I've tried an MB 149, but found it much too large for my liking; on the other hand my MB 146 suits me very well. Based on this would I be better off with the Le Man 200?

I do not have a Pelikan 600 to hand but below are a couple of photos comparing the Waterman Man 100 and 200 pens to Montblanc 146 and 149s. Size wise the Waterman Man 100 is the closer match to the 146.

With more brass used in it's construction, it is a weightier pen but not overly so. I find it well balanced and comfortable to use.

The Man 200 is still a very good pen but the dimensions are a closer match to the Montblanc 145 (Chopin) fountain pen.

Hope this helps.

gvl, thanks very much that is most helpful. Based on the dimensions for a Pelikan 80 and 600 and an MB 146 on Richard Binder's website and your photos it looks as though the 100 might be between the Pelikan 800 and 600 size-wise. At this point I'm thinking the 100 might be the one to buy.

I shouldn't have thought you would have a problem with the Man 100.

The reason why many people find the Montblanc 149 uncomfortable to use is due to the thickness of the pen. The nib section of the Man 100 has a similar diameter to that of the 146 and, as the photos show, both pens are significantly slimmer that the 149.

the man 100 is a bigger pen than the man 200 but both are great pens

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Yup, the Man 100 is slimmer than the 800 and slightly wider than the 600.
