Very good review! I love this ink. It makes a perfect pair with my black matte Vanishing Point. :)

You've got really nice handwriting, if I do say so myself. Very easily readable. Reminds me that I need to work on my own... embarrassed_smile.gif

Thanks for sharing!

Need a pen repaired or a nib re-ground? I'd love to help you out.

I'll throw in a review of Noodler's Bad Black Moccasin soon.

Thanks for the great review of Noodlers Black! I've been really pleased with the way it writes on paper, and its saturation. It is a great black. It has only been in the past couple of months that I've "found" Noodlers inks, and I love the fact that most of the ones I've tried flow well, don't feather much on the papers I use, dry quickly and are truly saturated/rich colors. I used to use a lot of Private Reserve (which, by comparison seems slow to dry and easy to smear), and I think I'm now spoiled by Noodlers. Do you happen to "worry" any about all the chatter about potential damage to "nice" contemporary fountain pens and nibs? I like to ink up and use my nice pens, not just look at them in the case.

Noodler's inks are perfectly safe to use. They are all pH-neutral (except for the few specifically marked otherwise). BpB, especially, washes easily out of pens and off plastics--it only reacts with cellulose paper.

You need not worry about using any Noodler's inks. Only inks in the Baystate series need special precaution. Indeed, in my humble opinion borne of only a few years' experience, they are the best inks to use, period.

Besides the practical reasons, I also am happy to support Nathan. To me he is like our contemporary champion of the fountain pen. Without his selfless devotion to affordability and his evangelistic attitude, our hobby would be much poorer. He could charge much more than he does, but he generously wants as many people as possible to be able to afford his products, so he does everything he can to keep costs down. I hope he will pass the torch on before he retires someday.

I think Noodler's inks are very safe to use. They are cheap per ml and nicely saturated.

The Baystate series are a different breed and should be handled as such.

I would recommend Noodler's to anyone and it wouldn't cause you any more problems than compared to other brands of fountain inks out there.

Crunchmaster,

Thank you very much for the feedback. I love the Noodlers inks, and agree with your expression of support for Nathan. I've enjoyed watching many of his videos and very much appreciate his attitude and the clarity with which he expresses his views. I heard an interview he gave recently about the prospects for passing the torch, and I wish him long life! I just ordered some of the Baystate Blue and will be very cautious in using it.

I did my first "test" of several of the Noodlers and a few other inks regarding their waterproof qualities (gave all the inks a few days to set up, then soaked them in water). The Noodlers inks, especially BpB, Fox and Lexington Gray, didn't run or fade in any way - amazing, and just what I want.

Grateful for your experience and assurances!

Spot,

Thanks, also, for the insights on Noodlers regarding safety in use. I agree completely about the reasonable costs, and especially "nicely saturated." I really like the Noodlers colors and characteristics in the pens I used so far.

All the best!
