I just got my first bottle of this, as it is considered a standard, a touch dull but a standard.

I see shading though (or is it just me) such as the word Pelikan in your review...

Does it go down a bit purple & dry blue for you?

I notice shading now I look at the full size scan results. Didn't see the shading during writing because of poor lighting.

There is a purple hue to the ink, but not as much as the other ink I have like Aurora Blue.

The scan turned out a bit brighter compared to the real sample.

I also find it a somewhat dull color, especially since I've owned Noodlers Baystate Blue. That blows any blue ink in comparison. But I find that I use the Waterman more frequently than Baystate, mostly because the former is less harsh to the pens I have in use.

If you wouldn't mind and if it's no trouble, just for a chuckle, with good lighting, put a fresh pen mark underneath "the quick brown..."

like a squiggle next to the other marks... is the fresh ink "purplier?"

I am fascinated by inks that colour shift... the bottle I have does this, very slightly. It loses a bit of the purple when it dries.

I just want conformation as I understand seeing purple in blue is not done the same by all people.

thank you

..and I too have a bottle of Baystate Blue that I only use for addressing envelopes (unless I have Henry Hudson Blue ina pen - then I use that)

I did what you requested... Waterman Florida Blue seems to go through a color change when just applied to the paper till the moment it is completely dried and fixed on the paper. During the short moments it leaves the pen through the nib and becomes visible on the paper while still being liquid and wet, it looks like a lively and vibrant purplish/blue colour. But when the ink is drying up (I'm talking seconds here) it loses its punch and becomes more greyish and dull. It would've been nice if this ink kept its blueish/purplish vibrance instead of being slowly turned into a lesser version of itself while drying up.

One of my favorite colors. Thanks for the review! Great job.

thanks.

Thank you for the experiment...

I was at first, like yourself, upset over the loss of vibrancy ... but recently I was re-reading something I had written earlier with this ink and it looks quite nice when you re-visit a whole page of it.

If you wait a LONG time, Baystate blue gives up a bit of it's electricity (days, weeks, not minutes) but what remains is still a lovely blue.

Florida Blue is a great no nonsense ink with no issues i have ever noticed.
