I know nothing about Montblanc pens yet but I do know that this is one :)

Well done, Your Majesty! :clap1:

Long live the Queen!

Hear-hear!

I particularly like the fact that it appears to be a plain simple 149. Excellent! thumbup.gif

To the person who reported me for copyright violation in my WANTED ad in the classifieds section for a 75th LE 149:

Really? An 80x80 pixels avatar-type picture in the heading of a wanted advert is threatening your well-being?

My apologies then. Thank you. Goodbye.

Well, the poor lady can't choose which pen she has to write with. She has to take what is provided at the place.

But I bet she wasn't too disappointed...

Nice grip.

Greetings,

Michael

Did someone leave the small gold nib width adhesive sticker on the barrel?! (look just above Her Majesty's index finger knuckle)

I like that Her Majesty removed only her right glove to sign the guest book, leaving her left hand gloved. The Queen is a rare example of well mannered gentle decorum.

Montblanc should license this photograph for their own use. It's like the famous photograph of President Kennedy offering from his coat pocket his personal MB 149 to German Chancellor Adenauer for a ceremonial signing.

HM The Queen has a very plain Parker 51 which she uses at home at Buckingham Palace, and if you look on the Conway Stewart website you discover a letter from her secretary thanking them for the offer of a pair of gold CS pens to mark Elizabeth & Philip's 50th wedding anniversary. In the letter the Queen asks that the pens be useful and practical pens, and not something over the top and decorative and impractical.

I think she also has a gold 51, which i have seen her using in an old photograph.

I'm guessing, like mirosc, that the pen was provided by the host, because I believe the royal family uses Parker pens. Can't recall where or when I came across that information but I've seen it in more than one publication through the years.

Happiness is a real Montblanc...

My 147 is from the mid 1990s. I've had it and used it for about 10 years. It still contains the nib sticker. I find it amusing and have no intention of removing it.

My MB 146 was bought for me by my then girlfriend on our first visit to London together, and she bought it for me in Harrods, and it cost her over two weeks wages. It has been used regularly ever since, and next year will be our 30th wedding anniversary.

I can't stand stickers of any description, so anything that is removable goes off right away, and the non-removable variety is removed with much cursing and endless drivel about inferior minds and their love of bloody stickers embarrassed_smile.gif

Yes of course they should !!! I am sure the palace would allow that ! Oh and its licence

I'm curious about the photo of Kennedy offering his pen to Adenauer. Anyone have a link?

I watched Her Majesty signing the book during the opening of the hospital yesterday - and here is another photo I borrowed from the "SunHerald"..........and the pen was waiting for her, and after she had used it she tucked the nib end into the cap but didn't screw it on.........and left it where she had found it. I wonder who has it now????
