Scripto Lever Fill Semi Hooded Nib

Recommended Posts

I picked up at the local junkateria what looks like a down market Scripto lever fill fountain pen. To my inexperienced eye it looks like all I need is to clean the feeder and nib and add a new ink sac. Can anyone tell me the size sac needed or how to measure for a new sac? Am I right in seeing sponge in the remains of the old sac?

To get the sac size, measure the outside diameter of the nipple (where the sac attaches) in 64th's and round down one - i.e. if it is 17/64 then round down to a size 16. Eyeballing it, it looks like a size 16. If in doubt, go a size smaller. The sac should fit snugly on the nipple.

Not sure what the sponge-like stuff is.

Scripto used a sponge inside the barrel to wipe off the excess ink...

... and if you buy that, i'll throw the Golden Gate Bridge in for free!

joking aside, that's a nice pen. i'm partial to vintage third tier pens (Wearever, Scripto, etc).

i think a #16 sac would work. it is what i use in my wearever pennants and i suspect the scripto is not much different.
