Lamy Scribble

Hi everyone.

I was looking around for the Lamy Scribble pencils and discovered that there used to be a discontinued series (186) opposed to the new ones available (185).

Are the looks (older ones are all black) the only differences between the series or not?

Also if anyone could be kind to tell me where I could find one of the 186 series I would be very grateful.

The only difference it the finish color on the metal parts. I had a 185 mechanical pencil but sold it because I prefer the all-black 186 models. I have a hard time picking favorites but the Scribble is in my top 3. I have not seen any of the older models for sale in a while. Your best bet is eBay or a want-to-buy post on the buy and sell forum here.

you could try to ask Lamy if they have black replacement parts.

Some time ago I created sort of an in-between model by putting a black clip on a silver finish scribble

Are you talking about the classifieds instead of market watch? I think you need to have 30 posts before you can post in the classifieds.

As cbbp suggested earlier, I tried to send an e-mail to stylo.ca and they responded very quickly, stating that it was indeed an error of their part. They sorted it out and placed the UK for shipping countries. I was very pleased by their interest. I ordered the pencil and should receive it in a week or so. Meanwhile I accomplished to get a hold of a full black Lamy Scribble ballpoint pen through ebay.

I will try to post pictures of both once I receive the pencil.

You'll be very happy. I have the scribble MP and BP and LOVE them both. Didn't care much for the clutch pencil though - but I have a couple of beautiful kit clutch pencils that fill the slot.

 

The scribble BP is the smoothest and nicest BP I've ever used.

Great, happy for you! I live not very far from a Stylo.ca store (there are 3 or 4 locations) and they have good service - I noticed they lowered some of their prices recently. Although the retail prices are still high compared to what you can find online, some less common items (and this is a good example) can still be found, which makes it worthwhile.

Hi everyone, sorry for the (very) late follow-up!

So it has been a while that I have received the Lamy Scribble mechanical pencil (all black version), thanks to the advice of cbbp, but I never had the time to post the photographs.

I LOVE my Scribble BP, but the MP spits lead out rather inconsistently. Sometimes not enough to write with, sometimes about 6mm - in one click. So I really just don't use it - which is sad b/c I LOVE the size, shape, weight of it.
