Identifying Vintage Waterman's

Hello,

It's my first time posting here, but I've been looking for a while. I just came across three vintage Fountain pens, one Montblanc 256, one Pelikan, which I think could be a 300 (separate thread in the Pelikan forums) and this Waterman (or rather Waterman's). I've looked around a little, but haven't been able to identify the specific model. It's a lever fill, and it seems it needs a little bit of TLC. The Montblanc and the Pelikan, which are piston fillers, seem to work better.

Here are a couple of pictures. Could any of you help me with identification? And, off less importance, but still interesting, an approximate value?

Also, I'd like to get it to working condition, could any of you point me to someone who can get it working? I hear a sucking sound when operating the lever, but I can't get it to take in any water (or should you avoid water for cleaning for lever fills?).

Sorry, that came to a lot of questions. Hope someone can help!

Thanks,

Hans

It's a Crusader, from about 1947-48. They sold for $5 at the time. You can find them on ebay for something like $10-15 unrestored.

For starters, I'd try a good long soak (of the section only) in a 10:1 water/ammonia solution--in an ultrasonic if you have one. There are lots of people who could probably restore it for you. Ron Zorn, Richard Binder, and Joel Hamilton are names that come up frequently around here.

Good luck with it. Nice, inexpensive pen, IMO

Thanks for the help! I'll try to get it back in working condition.

The Montblanc and Pelikan that I found at the same time are probably worth a bit more, but since they work, I guess investing a little bit of money into this would be the right way to go to please the FP gods.
