Marksman Pens (?not The Current Famous Brand?)

I recently bought a few sets of Fountain pen+Ball pen +/- Pencil. All the boxes are marked Marksman® I am not sure these are the same as the present day Marksman pens from the US.

In two of those sets, the pen has the mark/emblem on the clip which appears like a stylish representation of an archer (Marksman). On the nib is an arrowhead within an ellipse/oval. The nibs are golden (paint or plate). I have given below pics of one of these sets.

The other two sets do not have the emblem on the clip or any mark on the nib. Instead the nibs have "Iridium Point Germany" written on them. The three words are written one below each other. The nibs are two-toned with silver tip and gold within. These 2 pen sets look just like Montblanc 146/Chopin in their design and looks. One of these sets is in Navy Blue while the other is in Burgundy. Both come with gold trims. The clip on one of these pens is quite bacly rusted with the gold paint/plate flaking off. This could be an indication of the quality.

I am posting a few shots of one of the Marksman sets I mentioned above. I am afraid the pics are not great. I would appreciate info on these. Thanks

I don't know anything about the company, but here is the Marksman pen I acquired from another member here. I've seen the same model in a darker brown for sale as well. Very cheap, but not too bad.

Thats a nice colour WillSW. These pens seem to come in a few shapes and forms. I see your pen has the stylized archer on the nib. This is in contrast with my pen whcih has this figure on the clip but not on the nib which has the arrowhead in the oval. Am I seeing this right? Does your clip have a mark on it? Also my pen does not have the name "marksman" on it anywhere while yours does both on the barrel and the cap.

O and yes, the caps are "snap shut" rather than "screw fit" in my pen. Waht about yours?

Thanks for sharing

Bump

Here's mine:

The logo appears on the nib and on the cap below the clip. No other markings anywhere on the pen. It was sent to me by a friend in Québec some time ago, and I had been unable to identify the brand until I found this post, so thank you! :-)

My friend's sister found it somewhere in Montréal along with some old Arnold pens. I'm fairly sure it's a Chinese make of no great value, but it does write well with the right ink. Plating is coming off all the metal parts, but whaddya want for nuthin'? :-)

I've found at least there "Marksman" pen brands on-line so far, one a high-end corporate promotional line, another a low-end promo line, and one a maker of wooden kit pens. Nothing so far resembling these, though.

I have a marksman set like this ( will post a pic later). Made of plastic that looks like wood. Set consists of Fountainpen, ballpoint and pencil in a hard plastic box. Gold color on the nib is fading, but otherwise in mint condition.

Have a look at my pens for sale here or follow me @penatelier.
And if you have any information on OWA pens, made by Peter Jungmann somewhere near Heidelberg, Germany, please let me know.

here they are.

If anyone is very interested, I am willing to sell them or trade for vintage waterman FP

Hi, I know all these pens well from when I lived in Asia. The Green set in the top photo is Chinese. They are not expensive but fairly nice pens. Fairly new production. The ones in all the other photos are all made by Pilot. I think they were actually made in the Korean factort, not the Japanese factory. I'm not clear on if they were a sub-brand of Pilot or made for a outside customer. There are a few Pilot pens in the exact same design, just the color and logo are different. They are OK, but very light pens and actually the Chinese one is better made. As you can see on the Pilot ones, the nib plating tends to wear easy. Odd they have the same logo but I'm sure the Chinese company just figured no one was using it any longer so they would. Cheers, BOB

Hi there

I, too, have a Marksman Fountain Pen...photo attached, I hope. On the middle ring is marked 'Marksman', the nib has 'sharp' and below that, 'safari'. The Pen is quite heavy and made of some kind of ceramic or stone? It is quite lovely and writes well. I have no idea as to who the maker 'really' is, though. Oh, there is nothing on the clip..it is a very nice 'art deco' design though. Any Ideas???

Mine. It is a nice writer, a little bit scratchy but I like that (gives me a gratifying feedback). One thing I noticed while taking the pictures is that the nib seems to be the same as some present in Hero pens, so may be it was outsourced to (or directly a sub-brand of) Hero.
