Aurora 98 Riserva Magica

Nineteen sixty-three’s “98 – Riserva Magica” is another descendent of the 88. With its square clip, polished or matte black plastic body, black squared-off cap top, and hooded nib, the pen resembles the 888. Its piston-fill mechanism features a special device, dubbed the “riserva magica,”

that ensures the ink is used to the very last drop.

Aurora produced the 98 with different caps with different decorations. Pens with full overlays of gold, solid gold, and solid silver also appeared, dubbed the GL (Gran Lusso or grand luxury) models.

(FROM LETIZIA JACOPINI BOOK).

Nice pattern.

I am not too fond of all-metal pens, but at least the section isn't....

Very pretty. I have a simpler Aurora 98 (black plastic (?) with gold trims) which I'm very fond of, elegant, functional and a good writer. (I bought it here from zanio: thanks!)

I'm curious how you got the barrel off (the last picture). Just unscrew (without special tools)? More importantly, is re-assembly straightforward?

Thank you for the clear description, fabbale.

I tried, but mine won't unscrew even under medium force. I'll leave it in peace as long as it's workng fine.

Talk about resurecting an old thread!

I just got a GL 2 days ago. It was already ready to go. Seems NOS. But, like Anderl said, it won't come off even with medium force. Does anyone know if they used a sealant when assembling the pen? If so, which one?
