Swivodex Inkwell

Howdy,

I recently received a Zephyr Swivodex inkwell in very good exterior condition. However, I cannot seem to figure out how to removed the plastic upper portion from the rest of the glass ball to inspect and/or clean the interior before using it. Does anyone have any experience with these?

Thanks,

Steven

it unscrews, but there's an inner metal ring in the cap that might have rusted a bit causing it to stick to the flange of the rubber inner cup. want a picture of one disassembled?

My original rubber cup (seen here) was intact but had hardened at the base, rendering it unusable. I've been experimenting with building a new one using various gaskets, o-rings, and sheet neoprene. the problem is finding a hose with the same diameter as the cylinder, as gluing a flat piece together into a cylinder has proven not structurally sound.

Thank you so much! I tried all my strength to unscrew that thing, but I guess I will have to resort to some WD40 or something to dissolve any possible rust and try again.

Hello,

be careful, because the products to dissolve the rust, can damage the celluloid used to build the cover.

I have had your own needs, and I used a hair dryer to carefully heat the celluloid, which allowed me to disassemble the inkwell.
