Sheaffer Desk Pen I Haven't Seen Before...

Recommended Posts

This Sheaffer desk pen and holder is a recent acquisition. Purportedly from the estate of a former Sheaffer employee. It's anyone's guess. It is finished similarly to a Sheaffer Lady set model 903 I have in my collection. Some refer to the finish as "Lattice."

I would appreciate your insights and relevant comments as to the possible history of this unique pen. Thanks.

The first photo I thought that was a turned wood, and got really excited and was about to fire you off an offer on them....

Even so, very nice vintage set.

I thought the very same thing!

Addendum: It is not wood. It is likely brass.

The desk pen is metal except for the section. The second photo is merely to show the similarity of the finish of the Lady 903 and the desk pen.

I've seen a lot of Sheaffers over the years, but none like the one in the top photo.

Cuza;

It is golden moire "created for the Sheaffer-Lennox Writing Set" - from the 1959 brochure.

Found this ad in an old Ebony magazine from 1960. Roger W. was right on.

I was able to find a Lenox base for the desk pen above. I'll have a photo when I mate the pen and base. Soon.

I have a desk set that looks like that with a fine point and an italic. The pens resemble Lady Sheaffer XVI with the "moire" pattern. I'll have to take a photo and upload it.

Edited: Here you go...

It was my late uncle's (since it has his name on embossing tape on the front).

It definitely looks better in person. It has a lot of the Lady in its design and overall appearance. Gotta love that Lady.

  • 3 weeks later...

I have the same pen on a 3.5 x 3.5 onyx(?) base. A family piece purchased retail late 1950's early 1960's.
