First Year Parker 51 Desk Set Base

Very simple question... what does a first year Parker 51 Desk Base look like

and has anyone seen one for sale (just the base) at a price that won't mean taking out a second mortgage..

I am fairly sure they do not have the magnetix fixture as that came out later in the desk set period.

I saw your thread title and figured you'd have a link to it. $67.50 in 1941? That was a LOT of money then, around $1,000 now.

 

edit: Not just the base, but I guess that's what it looks like.

That is what a double base looks like... I am looking for a single base... there are a few designs IIRC

As per your original post, Ernesto has a bunch of 1st year bases pictured so you can see what they look like. As per your second question (the WTB), I don't know where you can find one for sale that suits your needs.

I bought a first year base from the eBay, but I just wanted the marble for it to replace one I had for a striped duofold desk pen. The holders pop out from the marble fairly easily.

As I don't have a first year 51 pen, I might be willing to part with the holder part. I could part with the marble base that came with my duofold as well. They fit together, but the marble is a bit scratched on the top. I am on a business trip right now, but I can send you a few pictures if you like.
