Exactly! I have been using this ink for many years and I have always referred to it as "wine stain red." (And to Vert Olive as "grass stain green.") I love that lovely organic wine stain look. I also love the way this ink behaves - in the pen and on paper. It is heartening to hear that I am not alone. :cloud9: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:

Oh, you're definitely not alone...In fact this is probably my singlemost favorite ink for daily use. It has just enough color to stand out and be very pleasant to read, but it's also very professional looking and easy on the eyes even on bright white paper like Triomphe (which is my absolute, hands-down favorite paper).

I love this ink. I really do. My Edison goes between this and Diamine Damson which is a bit darker.

I received my order from Brian this week. I loaded Poussiere de Lune in my gray Pelikan 400. It has a fine nib. I am really enjoying the color and can see why so many people are in love with it.

Not in my experience.

This ink a true gift to all the fountain pen users. Dizzypen shares my own tastes in case, Poussière de Lune ( Moon Dust) and Diamine's Damsom are just wonderful inks.

Beautiful review and calligraphy! I have this ink but admit it plays second fiddle to Caran d'Ache Storm. But your review is so lovely I feel like pulling it out again.

I have Storm but not Poussiere de Lune. How do you find these two compare on the blue range? I'm finding Storm, although lovely to use, to be a bit too pinkish.

Hmm. I wouldn't describe the Storm I have to be pinkish at all, and generally I find it cooler in tone than PdL. If I go back through my journals, I can easily see which entries are written in Storm and which in PdL. PdL is much warmer and more muted.

If you find Storm too pink, I'd probably stay away from PdL.

Great news. My main writers are clear demos, so I'm wary of purple and red inks. Looks like I won't have to worry about this one though.

Inked:

Pelikan m205 black 0.9ci/F Italifine (Diamine Damson);

Aurora 88 nikargenta (Iroshizuku Kon-Peki);

Pelikan 140 Steno (J Herbin Lie de Thé)

I received my bottles of Poissiere de Lune today from Brian.

It's a beautiful shade. The ink in the bottle is a darker, brighter purple but when you actually write with it, it's a beautiful muted aubergine with a shade of gray. There is mild shading.

The ink also photocopies satisfactory.

I showed it around at work and we all decided it was professional enough to give it a go!

Picked up this ink and it was a brighter than I expected in a Pilot 78G. That pen does usually write a bit brighter or lighter than others, though.

Thank you for the lovely review. I put this ink in my winter rotation this last year and quite enjoyed it.

May you have pens you enjoy, with plenty of paper and ink. :)

Please use only my FPN name "Gran" in your posts. Thanks very much!

I love ink-paper-and-pen tech talk.

This was a very early JH purchase: there's a drawing of a moon on the label. The bottle I have was discounted at an art supply store and I was already wanting to get every ink JH makes!

I'd describe it (in artist paint terms) as almost caput mortuum.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Nice review and handwriting. I love this color too. I received a thank you note from Goulet Pens written in this color, and I sat there asking myself, "What is that color?" (of course, Brian had written that little factoid on one corner of the note!) I'm going to have to try a bottle myself.

Great writing! Not that I'd recommend replicating my mistake, but I forgot about a Lamy 1.1 mm calligraphy pen that was loaded with Poussiere de Lune. In fact it remained neglected for months but wrote beautifully when I finally rescued it from my pen box. The nib was none the worse for wear either. It really is a great ink and my all time favorite purple.

One of the great ink colors, stunning on nearly every kind of paper, well-behaved in nearly every pen, and ever-so-easy on the eyes, no matter how many pages of it you'll read. I've sold people on fountain pens more with this ink than with the pens themselves, because the color is so unique and beautiful. You show them the mindblowing variety of ink colors they can have with FPs, and people go nuts.

Anyway, PdL may just be my very favorite ink, of all the ones I've tried. But I'm a purple freak, so I'm definitely biased.
