Parker Ultra Giant

By the "original cap" do you mean the cap that covers the nib? or the screw on cap at the other end that holds the small pen? Someone said there may be a number on the cap. Which cap?

Thanks

Tim

Its called the blind cap - the one that you unscrew to get the red one out....

The other pen in the pic is 6 inches long and is a Parker Black Giant. I'm not sure how these pics will turn out. The lighting is bad. If I put it up on ebay the pics will be much better.

Thanks

Tim

Wow! The proportions were more than I expected.

Please take some serious advise before eBaying if you are not experienced.

WOW,you do have quite a RARE pen.As to a value and a price, there will be many offers, but please don't be in a hurry to sell it right away.Maybe take some more close up photos and then put it in a safety deposit bank box(really)!

I'm sure some of the more knowledgeable dealers will be your best choice for a value.Maybe even check out the PEN SHOW calender and bring it to one(like the Chicago) pen show in may of this year.Hang onto your pen tight-its a beauty!!

Yes it is a large pen. The two pens came from the same estate. I will probably list both of them in in separate auctions. My sister has an account and is very experienced at it. She will do the listing for me.

Thanks

Tim

This could get ugly quickly.

But, it seems to me that if Anyone is willing to pay $X via PM for this pen and they knew that the same pen were listed on eBay that they would pay at least $X there too.

The question is, would someone else (or Anyone) bid enough above $X to cover the eBay costs?

If you are seeking Expert advise some consideration could be expected.

If you are getting free advise, then the advise is free.

This is the type of pen where an in-person sale in the right venue would yield more than an eBay sale. Due to the scarcity of this pen, especially in this condition with the red pen intact, buyers will be somewhat subdued in their bidding because they'll never really be sure that it's authentic until they can handle it, no matter how good the photos are. IMHO, a sale at a major pen show would yield a higher price. I agree that Chicago in May would be a great show for this pen because of its nature (more vintage pen focus) and many major Parker collectors always attend that show. I'll be at the Chicago show and can certainly introduce you to a couple of folks that will be very interested.

BTW, I've handled both an Ultra Giant and regular Giant together and they are that dramatically different in size.

Thanks for the input. I have been wondering all night if ebay in the right venue for this pen. It may be as you say, that one needs to hold it and feel it to know for sure. If I don't put it on ebay I will take it to a pen show. I am not far from Atlanta and found out too late that they just had a show there. I will keep you updated on what I decide to do with the pen.

Thanks

Tim

The Atlanta show is coming up in the spring. April?

Do yourself a BIG favor and take John Danza up on his advice. He is very reputable and focuses

his collection on the early Parker Pens.

The pen you have should fetch a considerable amount of money.

Don't fall prey to the off board offers you may receive.

I almost did when I first got started and if I'd accepted these offers I would have lost out of several hundred dollars.

Of course, the pen I had wasn't nearly as desirable as this one.

Good for You!

Thanks Steve, for the great advice. I got some offers early on but am in no hurry to sell it and may just keep it for awhile. It would be great to take to the shows. I have never been into pens but I think I am getting the fever. The down side is starting with this pen It will be hard to upgrade from here. I still can't believe I have it.

There's one for sale here - with only a replica 'baby pen' for $24,500 !!!

[EDIT]: Amended price

I love David, but he's dreaming on this price. It's probably a consignment, because this looks like Jonathan Steinberg's pen because of the imprint. His is the only one with that imprint. I think he had Chris Thompson make the replica little pen.
