Name: Unnamed, but made by Peter Pauper Press Inc.

http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn44/lwb_photo/027.jpg

Paper: quite heavy, great first impressions (but I have had those before with disappointment). A light yellowish colour.

Lined: Yes, 3/8” spacing (9.5 mm) – nice for larger writing

Size: A bit square - 6” w x 8” tall x ¾” thick (15 x 20 x 2 cm)

Cost: 11 USD (appox. Conversion)

Place of Purchase: Kinokuniya Bookstore, Pavilion Mall, Kuala Lumpur

Website: www.peterpauper.com (at the time of writing this I still haven’t looked at the website)

Description:

Hardcover with nice Japanese artwork. Lays reasonably flat for writing. A great first impression but an odd size.

Ink Test:

Fountain pen friendly, 98%, not bad. The Sailor King of Pens with a Togi nib using a wet ink starts to ‘see-through’ on the back side of the page. The Togi filled with other inks, particularly the Nano’s should work fine. Very pleased with this paper.

Comments:

The only one available at that bookstore, old stock? Don’t know. It had some damage but I had a good feeling about this purchase.

This is a winner! Great price, great paper and great line spacing. The odd size and yellowish paper are minor negatives. I will definitely be looking for more of these journals.

One day I will look at the website.

Great review. I use the "Artisan Journals" from Peter Pauper Press for my journaling and love the paper which is nice and smooth. The journal lay flat for writing and look good too. My only wish is that they would make them a little bit bigger.

Thanks for posting this!

I have a number of Peter Pauper notebooks. They are wonderful! I can use my broadest nibs without feathering or bleed through. You do have to check to make sure that the paper is thick and ivory; some of the books have a thin, bright white paper that does not take fountain pen ink well at all.

Very nice journal, I may have to look into picking one of these up. I really like the cover.

Great review and great news!

The Indigo & Chapters stores locally (Canada's version of a Barnes & Noble) carry a large assortment of PP books. Getting fed up with Moleskine feathers and bleeds...

Nice review!

I just found these journals (same brand, different covers) in a local art supply store and they looked so nice. Mind you, they cost as much as twice as what you listed, so I'm glad it's worth it : ) I'm tired of getting cute notebooks that can't stand fountain pen ink

My wife bought one this week at a local Barnes & Noble. Pretty nice. She's not really an FP user (although she has an assortment of Varsities). She was looking for a fitness journal and liked the Peter Pauper journals because they laid pretty flat and had the hard covers.

The paper in these journals are great. I use B and bigger nibs, and don't have any bleed thru with this journal. The paper is a nice slightly off white color and the lines are very faint. I like some inks on white paper, but prefer brown and burgundy inks on off white paper. I do wish they had a bigger size; they are a bit small for my tastes. The one I have, Queen Anne's Lace journal ISBN 9781593594626, even has a little pocket in the back for papers.

The paper from Peter Pauper is wonderful for fountain pens! I use their day planners, journals, note cards and letter sets, and all of them take all my inks from all my pens wonderfully! No bleeding, feathering, or show-through! I find that I can usually get them for a really reasonable price, too!
