Difference between Safari, Al-Star and Vista

I am looking for a pen for my son and Safari is my choice. However, I noticed that these three pens for the most part looks the same. I don't see any difference by looking at the pictures of them, may be a few minor difference in color scheme. Even the pricepoint is also very similar between these 3 pens.

Can anyone share their experiences with these 3 models? How these are different? Which one is better if the price is the same?

I think that the Lamy Vista is a demonstrator version of the Safari. The Al-Star is an aluminium version with a transparent section.

Picking one is personal preference, I suppose. I prefer the Safari.

The Al-Star is a bit larger in diameter and may be a bit heavier. At a local stationary shop, they also offer a choice of nibs including some wider calligraphy styles.

This is the second inquiry you've submitted in the wrong place. Please be more careful. The Pen Review section is for reviews. General inquiries like this should be submitted in either the brand specific sub forum where applicable or in the "Writing Instruments" sub forum. Thank you.

Yes, it is helpful. Lovely pictures and very helpful information in a table format. Thank you.

Because there isn't a Lamy forum here, I thought I'll post this question here: what exactly is the difference between the Lamy Vista, Lamy Al-star and Lamy Safari? They look all the same.

Identical topics merged.

So actually there isn't a difference?

There are three version of the same pen, Safari in ABS plastic, Vista in transparent material and All-Star in aluminum.

I have a Safari and a Vista, and I got the Vista because I liked the transparency of it. My friends keep tempting me with different color options in the Safari. Some dealers have different nib widths available, including italic, so your choice of Lamy really depends on what you're most likely to use often.
