Parker Vector

Hello

I am really interested in thin and slightly light fountain pens.

I was trying to get a Parker Plastic Vector Fountain pen.

I heard that Parker has stopped producing those plastic vector fountain pens?

Is that true?

What are the other fountain pens which are similar to Parker Vector?

Something similar to Parker Jotter ? :eureka:

Nothing too expensive, one that high school student can easily afford.

Any suggestions?

Thankyou.

You can get the Vectors on eBay in the UK and the seller ships Worldwide and not too much money either.

Parker Vector on eBay

Same seller also sells Vector sets and loads of others too.

No connection blah blah,

In that line is the Parker 95 and Rialto, both out of production, but still readily available.

Once in a while, you may stumble on a Falcon 50. Regular (all plastic) 45s would fit that billing too.

Perhaps the closest in production would be the Inflection, but I've never held one, so I can't vouch for its actual size and feel.

Hi,

The Vector, Rialto, and 45 are still being made according to Parker UK.

They seem hard to find!

Actually there is Jotter FP :)

I don't know if it's available in the US.

I can find the Parker Vector at my local art supply store here in the States. That may be a good place to look where you live.

I live in Australia, and accodring to my local newsagency, they said Vector is not imported to Australia anymore and are very hard to find. I used to like Vector very much because it was rather cheap compared to other FP and seemed very casual; that I can use it anytime for any occasion.

Becuase of its location, parker in the UK has a lot more pens available and more variations of a specific model. Does anyone know of a good (discounted) seller in the UK?

Hi,

This place is highly recommended. You can ask them to special order for you.

I live in Australia and I can't remember seeing Vector's available for sale, we seem to only to be able to get the Jotter and reflex fountain pens. I hope you find the one you are looking for.

I was online looking around a little while ago and found www.kingpen.com. They sell Parker Vectors. Don't know if they ship to Australia or not.

You can get Vector in a Calligraphy set that comes with three Italics nibs <_< But unless you love Italics Cursive nibs and know how to write with them, by all means :). The plastic ones got discontinued in Australia, because of the Reflex. (i have a hunch the Flighters are still around)

The Jotter Fountain Pens and the Reflex Fountain pen which are widely available in Australia from Officeworks use the EXACT same nib as the Vector (though the Jotter has a longer nib). Maybe you can get them instead. My local Newsagency had 2 Vector flighters for sale. I bought one of them, and someone else bought the other :(

jotter fountain pen available in Australia:

these cost around $29.95 AU, but dont come with a piston converter (you would have to buy it separately if u want to bottle fill). I saw these on sale at Doncaster Officeworks (you know where that is right ;) ). The Reflex fountain pen is available at Nunawading Officeworks at the same price as the Jotter - but personally, i would DEFINITELY get the Jotter instead of the Reflex.

1. Reflex is plastic, Jotter is stainless steel (thus, probably more durable)

2. Jotter looks better :)

3. Jotter is a respectable line that roots back to many many years of engineering, while Reflex is a completely new concept.

How much are you willing to spend? I saw a nice Parker 45 Flighter on sale at Myer for around $60AU which comes with a Syringe converter. Looks very similar to the Vector (i believe the Vector model copied some of the features of the 45). If you ask me, its probably a better pen, and it really is a reliable pen for every occasion. A "pen for all seasons"

Hi,

The Jotter, Reflex, 88, Rialto, and Vector use exactly the same nib and feed. I took the nib and feed from my Reflex and put it into my Jotter. I have been swapping parts among the tree models for as long as I remember.

Any pen you choose should fit the bill. It is also possible to buy the italic nibs for the vector, have me pull them, and put them into your Jotter, Reflex, or Rialto.

Thanks for the great replies people.

Well, I will get a JOTTER FP and REFLEX FP, both and test them out in the near future, when I have some income.

I think i recall seeing that the Jotter FP has a chunkier feed than the Vector FP.

What difference does it make on ink flow, Dillo?

Hi,

They are the same by the way. The feeds are just set differentely into the section.
