What's my pen worth?

okay so, I know this is 'The Fountain Pen Network' but I guess people here could help me out with my ballpoint pen as well :) It's a Parker 75 Cisele that belonged to my grandfather. The cap says 'STERLING AND 14K G.F. CAP AND BARREL USA'. It doesn't have a spring or cartridge in it. neither does it have a box (case) or any paper/document. It's pretty old and is single (loose) it had a pair but they were separated ages ago. It needs some buffing/polishing since it's been kept under wraps for a long long time. So, what would such a pen be worth? and any guide as to what I should do to care for it?

Hi bilalj,

Very nice Parker 75 BP. This is an early version of the Vermeil, which is Sterling Silver and 14 K gold Fill. Later versions were stamped Vermeil. These should bring around $200 depending on condition. Hope this helps some.

ParkerCrazy is "The Man", but I would have to say that this ballpoint would sell on an eBay auction closer to the $100 range......check completed auctions....Unless this variation makes it worth much more to hard core collectors.....

I agree.

I would be surprised to see one go for over $100.

Seems you'd need two Collectors both desperately trying to complete a set or collection to go above that.

Interesting. Did Parker make a fountain pen version of the 75 desk pen?

Hi everyone,

You have to remember that this BP is vermeil, which are somewhat worth more than the standard Sterling Silver BP.

Did Parker ever make a 75 FP Dest Set, Not for sale, but they did make a prototype, Only one I have ever seen and now in the hands of a Parker 75 Collector..

Hi there,

Gosh, I really love this forum! Hey bilalj, did you expect such a positive response to your question? Isn't FPN full of nice people?

Two things: Francis is right, of course. Vermeil is definitely harder to find and more valuable. But it's also a cap actuated ballpoint, too, which is a real plus. These were only made for a certain amount of time and there are collectors out there who specifically look for these kinds of ballpoints. But what do you plan to do with it? Are you going to restore it or keep it as is?

I first got interested in collecting and using vintage pens for a couple of reasons; Parker Pen was near me in Janesville, Dad had a Parker 51 box with all his decorations from Korea, and my Grandfather's gold filled Wahl. Are you planning on selling the pen or keeping it? I know what I would do.
