WOW - Parker Atomic Pens

Hi Everyone,

IF you thought the 1st year Jotters were cool, check out these prototype Atomic Pens. I could not look at this material without letting my FPN friends know that these did exist, if only as prototype dummies. The Parker documents that I have state that Parker was very much into the Atomic Age. As a result they came up with the Parker Atomic Pens. The 1st one looks like it could have been a Ball pen, which I get into very deeply.

The documentation states that there was one of each of these made in the model shop in 10-2-62 at a 4 to 1 racial, meaning they would have been 4 times larger for display purposes.

The prototype numbers given to these pens was X-125-67C and X-125-67D. These were made for the World's Fair and given to the Public Relations Department for the New York World's Fair which was in New York in 1964-65. In 1964 I was in the navy and stationed overseas, so never got to the World's Fair, but would be interesting if anyone was there and saw these Atomic Pens, some where out there, 4 of these do exist.

Sure wish Parker would have made these for sale to the Public, maybe that way, we would have had the chance to own one of these someday.

Hope you Enjoy, Francis :yikes: :yikes:

Just when I have abandoned Parker as not being radically cool like the Germans or Italians, along comes the most amazing prototype ballpoint pen I have ever seen. Thank you very much for sharing. I miss World Fairs.

Ball point, whatever. But images 2, 3, and 4 appear to be fountain pens of some kind (actually, 3 and 4, seemingly the same pen, look like some kind of hybrid of a stylographic and fountain pen).

Does not always write loving messages.

Does not always foot up columns correctly.

Does not always sign big checks.

I want the one in picture 3 (#4). Reading the note at the bottom... can someone please tell me where public relations is? I need to demand the use of that pen (you know, for relations sake!)... :P

In those days it was acceptable to be racial? ;-)

Wow, those look like something pen companies are putting out nowadays.

Sounds like something you'd place in a profs office if they refuse to remove the - from your A grade. If you don't give me a straight A I'll set off my atomic pen in your office, you here!?

I'd rather spend my money on pens instead of shoes and handbags.

The models are probably history.

The guy in the PR department took them home for his kids to play with...

#5 (last picture) to my eye seems to foreshadow the 180. Darn but those things are cool.

I came here for the pictures and stayed for the conversation.

As I recall, the Atomic Pen was used in The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

Hi Bruce,

You are probably right, Taken home for the kids to play Buck Rogers with. The reason I say this, is my Father once brought home a desk model of the Parker 51 plane, Didn't take my brother and I long to destroy it trying to make it fly. I sure wish I had that desk model now, this was back in the very early 50's. :gaah: :gaah:

Take Care, Francis

  • 9 years later...

The #4, from the 3rd picture looks like the new 5th Pens...

Of course not the same technology...but a bit of resemblance.
