Graf von Faber Castell Question

Recommended Posts

I was just looking at the Fountain Pen Hospital Spring catalog and found I like the new "Intuition" model from Graf von Faber Castell. It seems to have some nice Art Deco hints that remind me of MB's "Marlene Dietrich" SE. Has anyone seen this model or test driven it? How large is the pen physically? Nib quality? Any comentary?

I have an mottled gray-black typical German twist plunger filler, Osmia-Farber-Castell, from @ 1949-52, with an Osmia Supra nib. It is to my uneducated hand a flexible fine.

Osmia made the superior nib. Osmia had been bought by Parker, when Parker tried and failed to get in to the German market in 1929-39. Farber Castell, who owned 20%, bought it up 1949 and closed it down 1952. The Osmia Supra nib was a much better nib than what Farber-Castell produced.

I do not know if they have matched that level in their modern pens. I am after all a noobie.

I like writing with that pen.

I wish to thank all the good folks here for this information. It saved this pen (and 7 others) from ending up in the Flea Market cup of pens.

I do believe if one is to buy a Farber-Castell, an Osmia-Farber-Castell with a Supra nib, is the way to go.

No, I am not ready to sell my suddenly good pen.

I just bought one today. I haven't had time to ink it yet.

Posted 14.9 cm (a bit shorter than my Pelikan m600)

capped 12.7 cm (a bit shorter than my Pelikan m600)

barrel 11.9 cm (a bit shorter than my Pelikan m600)

A bit heavier than my Pelikan m600.

The "section" area feels a tad thicker than my Pelikan m600.

It is beautiful and a pleasure to hold.

The nib seems very smooth dry.

I have now inked it and the nib is fine.

The pen is a pleasure to write with as it just feels good in the hand.

Normally I prefer a bigger pen, (m800), but this is the exception.

I will try and post pics later.

I really like the looks of the various Graf von Faber Castell fountain pens, but it's a shame not more of them come with piston fillers :bawl:

And that they are so blamed spendy--the intuition looks lovely, but out of my price range entirely.

Interesting, I bought it as well, also with a M nib, but the logo on my nib is different from the one in this picture. Mine has the logo like this one:

I think it is just visible on this otherwise bad quality cell phone picture:

I wonder why different nibs are made...

I like yours better by the way!

Help? Why am I buying so many fountain pens?

You are right. Strictly speaking, it is not the 'correct' nib for the Intuition. That nib comes from the GvFC Classic range.

You could probably ask for the Classic nib when you do a nib exchange. They look like the same size.

Ahh, one of my most loved, beautiful, minimalist pens - the Intuition.

Unfortunately I would not fork out the money for it...
