Sailor "Snow White"

Hi all! Seems like a long time since I've posted something interesting, so here are a few photos of my newest arrival: The Sailor-Nagasawa "Snow White" LE.

The Snow White is a Pro Gear Slim Mini pen produced by Sailor especially for the Nagasawa store in Japan, as part of their Nagasawa Collection line of exclusive stationery products. Typically the store editions are small in number, about ~300 or so.

Sailor has made a couple of interesting white resin pens over the last few years:

2004 - The original "Snow White". Profit model produced for a pen club in Japan.

2006 - PenStyle "Mine" White. Pro Gear Slim style produced for Nagasawa.

2008 - PenStyle "Snow White". Pro Gear Slim Mini produced for Nagasawa.

2008 - Sailor "Pink Gold". Pro Gear model.

Usually these kinds of special editions are offered with only F, M or B nibs, but the Snow White was offered with a 14K White Gold EF nib. The nib is stamped with Nagasawa's "1882 KOBE" weathervane symbol, along with 14K, Sailor, and H-EF.

I think the Snow White moniker was a hastily-chosen 'Plan B' name. The cap band for the pen is stamped "125th Anniversary" - but that would have been 2007, not 2008! (Nagasawa put out a Pink 125th Anniversary Mini last year - did Sailor miss their end-of-2007 deadline for the White version...? :roflmho: )

Regardless, the stylish little Snow White is *very* cute! Later this week I should also receive the Morita Original (a Pro Gear Mini SE), and a couple of bottles of the new Pilot Iroshizuku inks. I have chosen "ajisai" for the Snow White, and "tsuki-yo" for the Morita.

Enjoy! :)

Very nice, indeed.

With the pink one shown in one of the links and the KAN and who knows what else, one can put together a neat collection of the small Professional Gear.

Congrats, Laura! It is beautiful :) I was amazed that it sold out within two weeks, but no wonder. Will be looking forward to reading your review!!

I just remembered...at Nagasawa there was a very charismatic employee who worked with Sailor to make LE/SE pens. He left Nagasawa last year, and opened his own pen store. I wonder it that has something to do with the wrong engraving on the ring.

VERRRRRRRRY nice...

I can just see a wonderful offshoot in the typical blue with the white bits instead of black... a real "sailor" pen.... :)

The more I look at these the more I'm tempted...

What a beauty! Reading Taki's response, I take it that a fuller review for this is forthcoming? I guess we'll have to wait 'til then to see how this EF nib is right out of the box. :D

When I post my first reply I thought Laura mentioned something about a review, but now I don't see it. It was before my first cup of coffee :headsmack: I do hope she will review it when she gets chance, though ;)

Hehe! Yes, when the ink arrives, I'll write a combined review for the Snow White and the Morita. ;)

Yay for tiny pens!

I just received my mini Morita the other day, and there's just something about this size, combined with the gentle color, that appeals to me. In the same vein, your new Snow White looks really wonderful in the mini! Enjoy, Laura! Thanks for sharing the photos with us!

Wow... how adorable! I second KCat in being glad that it's sold out.

I just received my Morita slim (Sapporo not mini) yesterday.... :cloud9:

I fear that I will never be satisfied again with any other nib!

  • 4 weeks later...

That is a GORGEOUS pen!

Usually, I don't like white pens, but that one is definitely appealing.

Now coveting.

I have come close to buying one of the mins, but 1) they use cartridges only, and 2) the colur available in the US look cheap, with the black section and blind cap. This is one beautiful pen. I only wish we could convince Sailor to bring colors like this to our country....

I'll bet Sailor would bring pens like this into the country if the USA rep was more aggressive. If some of the Japanese stores can have limited editions made for them, I see no reason why USA sellers couldn't have the same done for them.

OOOHH good idea!!!

Limited edition Sailor minis... I want metallic burgundy and metallic navy blue, like the burgundy in this photo...

Thanks to Phthalo for the photo...

I still think the plain blue would look good with white section and end caps. A real "sailor" pen.
