Yes, I have seen that clip before. I think it was in the "Chatter" forum. I don't know whether to laugh or just shake my head. At least he got a good pen.

Is that 149 his? Or, was it given to him for the signing occasion by the state?

Pen was given to him for signing by Romanian hosts :D

Isn't that considered a bribery?:) A French president with expensive tastes in good things (including pens) and a MB 149 will mix well in the back room political deals, though.

Can you co-sign my jumbo mortgage? :) (dangling a 149 in front of the screen.:))

I believe the "gift" isn't to expensive, so it's not a bribery. But if I see correctly Romanian host was rather surprised what Sarkozy asked, so he also took 149 and placed it safely in his pocket. Maybe Mrs Bruni was somewhere near :headsmack: :eureka:

in a semi related note, I saw President Calderon use a fountain pen to sign an accord yesterday. He is left handed, pen was black, most likely a MB. Can't find pics

The voice of this guitar of mine, at the awakening of the morning, wants to sing its joy;

I sing to your volcanoes, to your meadows and flowers, that are like mementos of the greatest of my loves;

If I am to die away from you, may they say I am sleeping, and bring me back home.

They are implying that he 'pocketed' it at the end, which I guess he did :) hehe

Haha, were those arrows at the end suggesting that he probably wants to steal the artwork and furnishings as well?

I thought he took the pen from the other diplomat...

Well, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

Can't say that I blame him.

Being gifted the pen is often seen after signing a treaty. It would have been abnormal if he would have taken the blotter on his right hand, right? :rolleyes:

Filling a fountain pen is much more fun than changing a printer cartridge

Yes, indeed, that's the custom. But I believe this particular pen wasn't intended to be gifted :happyberet:
