Rohrer & Klingner Scabiosa

The color is very hard to capture. It's purple-burgundy-grey.

The smell is like old-school mimiograph smell :) I dont know if it's the iron-gall or the R&K inks in general, but that smell just takes me back....

Enjoy!

Here's a close in shot of the shading:

Thanks, Tom B) !

WriterNat, on the website of her store, The Inked Nib, calls this ink color, "a lovely, muted aubergine."

Aubergine is the French name for eggplant and, I think, the English name for inks, paints and dyes of approximately the color of the skin of a ripe eggplant fruit.

When I added this review to the index, I expanded the name of the "Burgundy" category to "Burgundy / Eggplant Skin / Aubergine."

Can anyone comment on how this ink does on bad paper?

Iron Gall nuts indeed. Lovely.

Thanks for the review. I've been using R&K Verdigris lately and have fallen in love with it. We started stocking R&K in the Lucky 7 Pens store recently and have found that it's been really popular. It's quite a wet range of inks so I get some bleed through on usual paper, but on laid paper (I've been using Original Crown Mill Verge)it's an absolute dream.

I'm definitely going to be ordering more of these inks in the future - and I may even put some of them in the Lucky 7 Pens store ;-)

Best wishes,

Steven Jackson

Scabiosa's a very nice ink - I've got both that and the other iron gall, Salix.
