DIY Home Made Buffing Machine

Hi guys, thought I wanna share some home made projects with you...

I admit I'm quite a DIY guy, and I've made a habit of always dismantling old junks such as unused disc players or radios or whatever... i used to desolder the electronic parts and kept it in my storage for future use...

So I've always wanted my own buffing machine, would like to use it to polish my growing population of pens, I checked back into my inventory, I have an old motor, big sized = loads of torque, so tried it with my AC-DC converter, and it works!

Bought myself a 6 inch buffing cloth at my local hardware store, a 60ampere connector and I'm good to go....

Later made some custom made brackets to screw the motor in place, and although the motor shaft is kinda long but the width of the buffing cloth is too wide, and I need something to fasten it, so that when the motor spins the shaft, the buffing cloth will spin at the same speed as the motor, and for fastening, since there's no available thread at the motor shaft, I'm using a 60 Ampere huge connector, removed the plastics, sawed off the copper metal into two, each with its original screw to its threaded area to fasten the shaft, one at the inner part and sandwiched the buffing cloth in the middle with another fastening at the outer part...

Got myself a DC jack, and a switch, I have a AC-DC power supply, with polarity switching function, as well as adjustable voltages, so now whenever I adjust the voltage value, it adjusts the motor speed... I'm not sure how many RPM's am I getting but I suppose when I set it at 7.5V, it's running slow.

Result: Pretty impressed with the buffing ability of this kit, was buffing a few pens last night non-stop, it made polishing much easier than ever... I'm now using toothpaste to polish, I think it is abrasive but is there any other substance I can use for pen polishing? I reckon car polish paste is too abrasive and might hurt the plastics, what other things you guys have in mind??

Just some cheap ideas to share, pictures attached and feel free to comment on this post.
